Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhppppp! See the spot on the map on the upper Willamette Valley that says "23" - well add six inches of snow and freezing rain coating the top 1/4 to 1/2 inch and you can get a feel for what it is like here now. I'm surprised with all the ice, knock on wood, that there aren't more power lines down. The tree in my back yard is looks like it is made of crystal, and my hands are just defrosting from from scraping the sidewalk. So, all I have to say is: THHHHHHHHHHHHPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! Edit: I should add that with the north wind and driving snow the wind chill was in the sub-zero range last night.
COLD...-25 wind chill yesterday. Brutal. Cleaning up from an ice storm. Power intermittantly lost but still on.
I haven't checked the temperature yet but it snowed with varying intensity all night and is coming down fairly good at the moment. So the ice sheet that had formed from the freezing rain on top of the first six inches is now buried under another 6 to 8 inches of fresh snow. Good Skiing weather - and I have seen snowmobiliers plying the roads as well as the occasional Cross Country Ski fan. I wish I had a set of Snow Shoes about now. We have got to be in record territory for the Willamette valley this time of year. Normal, or past anyway before the new Ice Age, is about 35 and rainy. Instead we have low to mid 20's and a ton of snow. Our power was unstable last night but is holding so far. I have heat even if it goes out and I can always put the groceries outside in the Ice Chest - to keep the hungry critters out. I want my damn globull warming back damn it!
This is almost getting funny. It has now been snowing over 12 hours non-stop. A few slow downs but never completely stopping. The National Weather Service forecast of 33 and rain is completely out to lunch. It is currently 22 and snowing. Wind Chill is 6 degrees. Normal average, I just checked, is 45 with an overnight low of about 34. Although we are not near the record for the date which is 11. I remember that too - I was working outdoors on a loading dock handling mail for the P.O.. And the beat goes on ... Of course this is all a result of Globull Warming. Yeah, right.
