I've looked everywhere for Obama's reaction to Israel's latest slaughter and I've come up empty. Is O back from Hawaii? Has he called for peace? Has he denounced Israel? Or worse, does his silence signal he supports these butchers? Please help me. Subscribe to *Hasbarfa Alert*

And, on January 20, the pro-Israel administration of President Bush will be replaced by President-elect Barack Obama, who many on the Arab side hope will be more sympathetic to their cause. President Bush has spoken repeatedly about the need for Israel and the Palestinians to work together and reach a lasting peace. But during its two terms, the Bush White House, despite hosting the 2007 Annapolis peace talks, has shown solid support for Israel and its military operations against Palestinian militants. The current Israeli strikes against Hamas in Gaza are no exception, as White House spokesman Gordon Jondroe made clear. "Hamas has once again shown its true colors as a terrorist organization that refuses to even recognize Israel's right to exist," Jondroe said. "In order for the violence to stop, Hamas must stop firing rockets into Israel and agree to respect a sustainable and durable cease-fire." Some observers believe Israel started bombing Gaza now because it wanted support from President Bush but also the upper hand with Mr. Bush's successor. "So Ehud Barak, the Israeli defense minister, who is an ex-general, is, in a sense, seizing the ground while he has the chance. And so, the situation confronting Barack Obama when he comes in will be Israel having a stronger position," said analyst Paul Schram of the Middle East Institute. Many Palestinians and Arabs hope Barack Obama will be more supportive of the Palestinians and a Palestinian state than President Bush has been. One group calling for better balance is the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "America has to show leadership - a new leadership," said Nihad Awad, executive director of the council. "And the team of Barack Obama should not repeat the mistakes of George Bush and even Bill Clinton. We need new change, and we need to exercise pressure on Israel." In his campaign to win the White House, Barack Obama went to Jerusalem and expressed solidarity with Israel. Mr. Obama also supported Israel's right to defend itself. "If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I am going to do everything in my power to stop that," Obama said. Since his election, Mr. Obama has said nothing beyond repeating his desire to push for a a Jewish and Palestinian state living side by side in peace. At the Brookings Institution, Middle East analyst Shibley Telhami said "one thing that he has to be careful of is not to say something that is going to tie his hands when he starts and comes into office." Mr. Obama has also made it clear that there is only one president at a time, and for now, that president is George Bush.
Ah...so Obama immediately puts his kids into the path of a Palestinian rocket as an analogy. What about the innocent folks being blown apart by American taxpayer arms? I guess this answers my question. The O-man is good to go kosher.
I refused to vote for either McCain or Obama but I will give the best interpretaion I can think of that is in The Chosen One's favor. The Gaza invasion is designed to help Kadima and Labor in the February 10th elections against Netanyahu (Likud) who had been leading in the polls. If Obama enters the fray and makes Livni back down she will lose all ger recent gains in the polls. I have concluded that the Israelis will attack Iran after they attack Lebanon and Syria. This will draw in the Iranians which is how the Israelis will start WW III. The Pentagon has denied the Israelis refueling tankers and bunker buster bombs sufficient to destroy Iran's underground nuclear facilities. The Israelis will use the wars against Lebanon and then against Syria to draw the Iranians into a war. Then Americans will be forced to use nuclear weapons after Iran destroys the American Persian Gulf fleet. That is the Israeli plan.

Obama is right on this one. Also you must have forgotten that he criticized our military as "air raiding villages and killing civilians. So he has spoken on our use of arms which is contrary to your claim.

I don't think he was talking about putting his kids in Israel. He was talking about a general sense of if his house had rockets hitting it or around it he wouldn't be happy about it. None of us would. And Yes Israel does wrong too, obvioulsly. You say they have no deed to the land. That isn't true they have the Bible as a title. I'm also sure they print their own titles for tracts of land. But I will throw you a bone so to speak. I believe the Bible and gods word. You don't I think but not sure. Everyone is free to believe what they want and I like you Tull and think you want what is best for our country. I agree with those positions of your 90 percent probably. I think we should cut off all foreign aid to Israel and everyone else. It is tax payers money that should be spent on legitimate things like roads bridges etc. Now if Israel can't hold the ground and they get run over by mulsims then they couldn't hold the land and shouldn't be there then. Let them fight it out and we can mind our own business here in America. That is where our focus should be imo.

Thus their recent savage and very public bombardment of civilians in Gaza by the Israeli military. Recall the Israeli war machine would be out of money in three months without constant US subsidy. What will President Obama do about this latest display of savagery by the Israeli war party? Let's see... He picked Hilary Clinton as his Secretary of State... and Rahm Emanuel, dual US-Israeli citizen and son of an Israeli terrorist, as his chief of staff... It doesn't look good. I'm afraid we're going to find out that selling "hope" is not unlike selling "soap," the only difference being people who sell soap actually deliver something. The only unequivocal promise I heard Obama make during the campaign was to support Israel and my guess it that's the only one he's going to keep up. America needs to wake up.

I know you don't believe it or I suspect such. I hope that in the back of your mind you have a little faith. Regardless that is why I put the part about holding the land. Wouldn't you agree that we should stop all foreign aid. Then let Israel and the Arab world work on their own problem instead of us dictating to either side. We should just disengage and let what happens happen. It seems to me to be a reasonable approach to take as Americans.

Simple logic. Israel wants war within the next 2 years. The Pentagon has denied them the refueling jets and the more robust bumker buster bombs needed. The DOD wants to protect our Persian Gulf fleet US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan from Iran. The only other route is for Israel to attack Syria which is an Iranian ally. To protect Israeli civilians from Hezbollah rockets they will have to attack Lebanon before taking on Syria.
