Title: Time for a gas tax (something on another forum that looks incredibly ignorant)

Just reading an article on LP about how people are no longer buying the rinky dink alternative hybrid cars and someone posted that it was "time for a gas tax." And here I thought that there was both a federal and state tax on every gallon of gas that was sold in the US (maybe not Alaska, I don't know whether they have an excise tax on gas or not but every other state that I know about has it). Is it possible that someone could really be so ignorant as to think that the answer is always more and higher taxes? Someone seems to be in need of help and maybe getting his meds adjusted.

There are actually people who take classes each year and volunteer to help seniors and others with the preparation and filing of tax returns.

"TAXES ARE GOOD FOR US!" these state worshiping Munkins chant....

And, if a little taxation is good then a lot is better. Right?

It seems that in the "minds" of some--and I use the term loosely--there is no such thing as a bad tax. As Shirley Q. Liquor might say, "That is just ignunt."

Liberty is not a means to a higher political end. It is itself the highest political end.

There are entire classes of Americans who consume much more than they pay, including recipients of America's negative income tax. (If you make less than a certain amount the IRS will send you a check for 600 bananas if you file and ask for it.)

Elders on Medicare and SS living in retirement homes are a natural pro tax constituency, and after the AARP explains "the way thingz bee" to them they can't file fast enough.

Is she the sister of Richard Whiskey? The guy who changed his name because he got tired of hearing people calling him Dick Liquor.

I wonder if they are actually talking about a carbon tax. Is it someone who normally pushed AGW? They are pushing for that globally right now. Cooler temps are closing their window of opportunity.

Yes, the head of the American Truckers Association was quoted, as saying a Fuel Tax would be better received, if it was called a Carbon tax.

It is really sad (to me) when people think that they need to be taxed even more. That's insane.

I take part in an international climate forum and given the reports I'm seeing, the push is on.

I really don't know. As I recall, he always seemed to be in a snit because America didn't buy some kind of Russian fire-fighting plane or equipment of some kind.

The producer of SAVE SONNY knows about the non existent "trust fund", and explains that it's a failed pay as you go system in Save Sonny Episode 4 - Broken Trust.
