Buchanan: Israel's staging a blitzkrieg on its Gaza concentration camp

Not the first time a Nazi analogy has tripped lightly from his lips in this area, although like Cardinal Martino, he doesn't quite have the stones to own up to what he means. He's not comparing Gaza to a German death camp, you see, just to your average, run-of-the-mill concentration camp. The fact that he coughed up the word blitzkrieg literally in the same breath is but an unhappy coincidence.

A passage from Hitchenss review of Buchanan's World War II revisionism is worth quoting:

As the book develops, Buchanan begins to unmask his true colors more and more. It is one thing to make the case that Germany was ill-used, and German minorities harshly maltreated, as a consequence of the 1914 war of which Germany's grim emperor was one of the prime instigators. It's quite another thing to say that the Nazi decision to embark on a Holocaust of European Jewry was not a cause of the war but an awful consequence of the war. Not only is Buchanan claiming that Hitler's fanatical racism did not hugely increase the likelihood of war, but he is also making the insinuation that those who wanted to resist him are the ones who are equally if not indeed mainly responsible for the murder of the Jews! This absolutely will not do. He adduces several quotations from Hitler and Goebbels, starting only in 1939 and ending in 1942, screaming that any outbreak of war to counter Nazi ambitions would lead to a terrible vengeance on the Jews. He forgets—at least I hope it's only forgetfulness—that such murderous incitement began long, long before Hitler had even been a lunatic-fringe candidate in the 1920s.

Exit question: Wasn't Russia's assault on Georgia this summer a blitzkrieg too? No, wait, I forgot that was our fault. Click the image to watch.

Political Punch:

McCain-Palin campaign spokesman Michael Goldfarb writes: Governor Palin has never worked for any effort to elect Pat Buchanan that assertion is completely false. As Mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin did attend an event with Mr. Buchanan in her home town where reports described her wearing a Buchanan for President button. She wore the button as a courtesy to Mr. Buchanan and in an effort to make him feel welcome during his visit, but immediately sent a letter to the editor of her local paper clarifying that the button should not have been interpreted as an endorsement of any kind.70;

The McCain campaign says that instead of supporting Buchanan or even McCain in 2000, Palin actually supported Steve Forbes.

And indeed, another AP story from August 7, 1999 one month after the Buchanan trip to Wasilla states that joining state sen. Mike Miller of Fairbanks on the Forbes campaign's Alaska leadership committee will be Wasilla Mayor Sarah Palin, and former state GOP chairman Pete Hallgren, who will serve as co-chairs.

Pat's good at tweeking the Tribe.

Why not. He has nothing to lose now because he lost everything ( Oval Office dreams) as a result of the innuendo and hissssing campaign against him which started when he wrote a column in 1990 that the Israeli case against Demjanjuk as a war criminal was weak and that it could be a case of mistaken identity. The Supreme Court of Israel ultimately released Demjanjuk saying there was not enough evidence to show that Demjanjuk was Ivan the Terrible. But Buchanan was vilified and demonized regardless and his Presidential hopes were screwed.

Demjanjuk

Talk about luck. Had the Berlin wall not fallen, Demjanjuk's real records never would have been discovered. I understand they were in some moldy Stasi file. The Israeli SC had no choice but to toss the case. God was on his side and I still recall the rodent Dershowitz hissing at Buchanan every time they appeared together. Vile creatures.

"Only the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 allowed the Demjanjuk defence team to obtain exculpatory documents from KGB files inside the moribund empire. Exculpatory documents had also been retrieved from a dumpster just behind OSI offices in Washington after they had been tossed out by OSI staffers. (The OSI, the Office of Special Investigations, by the way, is the American Justice Department's Nazi-hunting arm.)"

Eli Rosenbaum, was the director of the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) during the Demjanjuk matter. I wonder how many other exculpatory files he had on Demjanjuk that were never found?

03-03-2002

What does the U.S. federal government do with John Demjanjuk when despite
decades of research, millions of wasted dollars, reams of legal papers,
years of media manipulation, and falsified evidence, the Israeli Supreme
Court finds him not guilty? Is the persecution over? Not on your life.

If Mr. Demjanjuk wasn't the sadistic, sword-wielding "Ivan the Terrible" of
Treblinka, then he surely had to be "Ivan the Very Bad" of Sobibor,
Maidanek, or Flossenburg.

You have to hand it to Eli Rosenbaum, director of the Office of Special
Investigations (OSI) and legally sanctioned poster-boy of Ukrainophobia. He
knows that to maintain his high-paying job in the federal government, he
must regularly produce a pound of flesh.

Mr. Demjanjuk, a Ukrainian American, was convicted in a Cleveland civil
court of lying about his wartime activity - (which, according to the OSI,
included his identity as "Ivan the Terrible," the sadistic Nazi guard who
gloried in killing Jews, especially children. A major piece of evidence was
a Soviet-doctored identity card. Mr. Demjanjuk was stripped of his U.S.
citizenship in 1981 and extradited to Israel, where he was tried for crimes
against humanity. The nationally televised trial was conducted in a concert
hall. Israeli teachers brought elementary school children to view the real
live Nazi on trial. He was convicted and sentenced to hang in 1993.

According to Israeli defense attorney Yoram Sheftel, author of "The
Demjanjuk Affair: The Rise and Fall of a Show-Trial," spectators "greeted
the verdict with curses and screaming insults. `Death, death, death to
Ivan,' `death to the defense attorney, `death to all Ukrainians, death,
death, death.' The people were dancing, stamping their feet, waving fists
in the air." All for the benefit of the TV audience.

The verdict was appealed to the Israeli Supreme Court at about the time the
USSR was imploding. This allowed the defense team to travel to Ukraine,
search the KGB files, and to discover that Mr. Demjanjuk was not "Ivan the
Terrible." Based on the new evidence, the Israelis Supreme Court
reluctantly exonerated him. In 1993, after spending seven and a half years
in an Israeli gaol, he was allowed to return to the United States. There
were no apologies from either Israel or the United States.

Mr. Demjanjuk's U.S. citizenship was restored, and Ukrainians thought the
matter was settled, especially after the OSI was condemned by a federal
appeals court for "reckless" disregard of the rights of the accused by
failing to disclose potentially exculpatory evidence. According to Mr.
Sheftel, there was evidence, moreover, that the OSI and Israeli officials
had conspired to convict Mr. Demjanjuk with false evidence. "The
manufacture of deceptive evidence by officers of the law in both countries
makes one's blood run cold," wrote Mr. Sheftel.

So why did OSI decide to go after Mr. Demjanjuk again? The obvious answer
is that Mr. Rosenbaum and his cohorts needed to restore their credibility.
Rectification was needed. A new Demjanjuk trial began in 1999. This time,
of course, there was no mention of Treblinka. Nor were there any witnesses.
Instead, the OSI presented what Mr. Rosenbaum called "a mountain of
evidence" alleging that Mr. Demjanjuk had lied about his wartime
experiences.

Eight months after the trial ended, Judge Paul Matia ruled that there was
enough evidence without eyewitness corroboration to prove that Mr.
Demjanjuk had guarded Nazi death and forced-labor camps.

So when will it all end? It won't. Certain Jewish American leaders are
determined to keep the Holocaust alive in order to promote "guilt."
Concerned in the early 1970s that Israel was being forgotten in world
affairs, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) launched an aggressive campaign
to market the Holocaust "against the background of a powerful `J'Accuse'
that is now submitting its bill `for Sufferings Rendered,'" writes Peter
Novick in his groundbreaking monograph, "Holocaust in American Life."
Sensing a great opportunity to elevate American consciousness of Jewish
victimhood, other Jewish organizations, academics and individuals signed
on.

The Holocaust has since become big business. It keeps Jewish organizations
financially solvent, produces countless books, articles and films, and it
protects Israel from ever being perceived in an unattractive light. "The
Holocaust framework," writes Mr. Novick, allows "one to put aside as
irrelevant any legitimate grounds for criticizing Israel..."

Mr. Rosenbaum and the OSI enjoy the unequivocal blessing of the powerful
Jewish lobby which has convinced many that the Holocaust was a uniquely
Jewish affair. Jewish suffering in the 20th century is like no one else's,
and even if one disagrees, it is better to remain silent lest one be
accused of anti-Semitism. To suggest that the destruction of 7 million
Ukrainians by the Bolsheviks in the 1932-1933 famine in Soviet Ukraine was
perhaps just as evil as the Holocaust is to dishonor in some grotesque way,
the murder of 6 million Jews by the Nazis. Identifying genocide among other
oppressed groups, in the words of Jewish intellectuals, is "Holocaust envy"
- a form of plundering the "moral capital" that Jews had accumulated with
their anguish. Turks, for example, had a "rational reason" for the Armenian
Massacre, declared Holocaust historian Lucy Dawidowicz. The Germans had no
sane reason to kill Jews.

So what will happen to Mr. Demjanjuk? Mr. Demjanjuk's attorneys have
appealed the latest ruling and the process will drag through the courts for
months, maybe even years. If Mr. Demjanjuk is still around after all that
time - he does have remarkable survivor skills - he will probably be
extradited to Ukraine where, thanks to Jewish influence, he will be tried
again.

With unlimited public funds, the Office of Special Investigations will
continue for as long as there are congressmen who are willing to spend our
dollars to support it. Will the OSI investigate crimes committed by Jews
now living in the United States as suggested by Israeli journalist John
Sacks in "An Eye for An Eye"? Forget it. The Office of Special
Investigations will never investigate former Jewish capos who worked in
extermination camps because their situation, was "different." Nor will
Israel extradite known mass murders living in their midst because, in words
of Israeli officials, too much time has passed.

How sad it is that a great nation like the United States is now hostage to
the OSI, a group of vengeance-bent miscreants posturing as seekers of
justice.

Pat must live the personal life of a cloistered nun. I can't think of any personal scandal/smear associated with him and Lord knows lots and lots of THEM have been looking real hard.

Give Pat a "tenner" in the Gulag, serve him right. hehehehe

Did you know he lost his $ with the Lehman failure?

He got wobbly for a bit after that, but I'm glad he is 'helping' to delineate issues as much as he can.

No doubt. But I did hear him commit to buying a Palin calendar. ;)

and I agree w/some criticism

Some folks criticize him soft on Bush ("The President is not a neocon.... September 11 put the steel in his spine and gave him his mission--to eliminate these evildoers. But it's the neocons who want to remake the whole Middle East and Islamic world and deradicalize them. They are the berserkers." ) and sticking with the Republicans.

But he hangs on. He hammered the IDF on Gaza last night harder than anyone else in the mainstream. He must have heavy cover.

And, yeah, he did help to save a man's life.

So whatever people think about Buchanan, and I agree w/some criticism, he did go the extra mile to save an innocent man.

Just read all this stuff about John Demjanjuk and how his guilt was reversed thanks to Pat. Well congressman Jim Trafficant had a major role in that guilty reversal and look what it cost him.

By the way, Jim Trafficant will be returned to a halfway house in the Youngstown, Ohio area this coming March. I believe he will one day run for office again and get elected. Then the SHTF. The wrongful conviction of John Demjanjuk was followed by the wrongful conviction of Jim Trafficant, Chalk it up to jooish revenge!

The President is not a neocon

No, he's their mangy pet dog. Which makes him a hundred times worse.

Even when Buchanan makes good points, he never misses a chance to look for angels in Bush and the GOP that just aren't there.

Exit question: Wasn't Russia's assault on Georgia this summer a blitzkrieg too?

Let's turn this piece of neoconservative rhetoric around.

When Russia invaded Georgia, the neocons and their puppets shouted "We're all Georgians now!" Doesn't that mean that we're all Arabs now that Palestine and Lebanon are being bombed, or do they not count?

Randge is correct, they do not count. Palis are subhumans, while the Israelis are a peaceful people simply looking to exist on their God given parcel.

Good point about Trafficant. He was out in front of the Damjanjuk defense too. THEY obviously found a way to silence him (I so wish he didn't represent himself that second time).

how his guilt was reversed thanks to Pat.

Pat Buchanan simply wrote a column wherein he took the position that the case might be one of mistaken identity. I don't think Buchanan did anything more than this that I am aware of. But his column caused a storm of controversy mainly because the Israelis and their Usual Suspect stateside apparatchik had been crowing for several weeks about this very fine Nazii catch that the Israelis had made.

The Supreme Court reversed the decision of the lower courts on appeal about 3 years later based on what they considered the prosecutors' evidence to be - ie. inadequate and especially so because new evidence was produced exonerating Demjanjuk. He clearly was not Ivan the Terrible.

Letter From Prison by JIm Trafficant by JIM TRAFFICANT

***************

Dear (anonymous),

Thank you! Thank you for thinking of me and my family. Life is hectic and fast- paced-- and for you to have thought of me, and then to stop and take time from your precious life to write me-- is an honor. And once again, I thank you!

Most of the people who write me say they cannot understand why the government targeted me with such a passion. Every rumor and innuendo that any political opponent would plant and foster became public and, before long, developed into an indictment without any physical evidence-- only the testimony of subjects who were able to avoid jail by fabricating falsehoods about me.

Lies and half-truths became 'facts'; and ultimately became a 10 count indictment.

My evidence, that would have proved they were lying, was not allowed to be presented -- either before the Congress or the Federal Court!

However, I know why I was targeted: I was not afraid of the government, and I had learned too much!

The beginning of all of this was my first trial, in 1983, when I became the only American in history to defeat the U.S. Department of Justice in a RICO case-- pro se (representing myself), and me not being an attorney. They were embarrassed!

The straw that broke the camel's back was when I proved that John Demanjuk was not the infamous Ivan the Terrible of the Treblinka death camp in Poland.

The government was stunned and in shock. The real Ivan was nine years older, taller, and had black hair and a scar on his neck; his name was Ivan Marchenko.

My investigation, in conjunction with John Demanjuk's beautiful family, proved not only that John was innocent, but also that the Justice Department knew he was not guilty-- even before they took him to court!

Shame, shame!! They lied to the court-- gave false testimony and presented false witnesses-- knowing that he would be put to death!

Shame!! The Justice Department then came after me with revenge, and a passion! I lost my respect and my faith in our government. Because this case was 'too sensitive,' Congress would not even hold a hearing on my evidence...

Congress, all of them, at the time-- turned their back, worried about reelection!!

The Democrats were in charge then, and they knew of my investigation in Congress... hoping I would abandon it! I did not!

I sent my findings to the Israeli Supreme Court-- and they had no choice: They released John Demanjuk! In fact, they delivered him to me at the airport in Tel Aviv, Israel, and I personally brought him home, along with his son, his son-in- law, and Israeli bodyguards!

I am proud of what I did. No one else, in the House or the Senate, would even talk to the family-- afraid of media power and the vindictiveness of the Justice Department.

But even today, John Demanjuk is still being persecuted.

Shame!

The government agents that destroyed Demanjuk's life should be in jail! That was just the tip of the iceberg.

When people saw what I had done for the Demanjuk family they came to me with unbelievable information.

The information is so powerful that it is hard to believe, and the government knew I was getting sensitive information that could damage the American people's confidence in the government.

People came to me with facts about Waco, Ruby Ridge, Pan Am Flight 103, Jimmy Hoffa, and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

It may all sound far-fetched, but I do know what happened to Hoffa and J.F.K.

The government knows that I know-- and so they had to ruin my voice by destroying my credibility. I may yet divulge this information if I can get the proper forum.

As you know, I was the dreaded enemy of the I.R.S.

My legislation in the last I.R.S. Reform Bill changed the Burden of Proof law. Before that, you had to prove you were innocent in a tax court. The burden of proof was on the taxpayer.

The I.R.S. said you owed... but the I.R.S. did not have to prove it. Unbelievable! Now that the I.R.S. has to prove their charges, the following statistics tell the true story.

Comparing One Year Before the changes to One Year After: 1. Wage Garnishments dropped from 3.1 million to 560,000; 2. Taxpayer Property Liens dropped from 680,000 to 161,000; 3. Foreclosures on individual family-owned homes dropped from 10,063 to 57! That's right: only 57 homes in all 50 states!

Fact is, the I.R.S. was seizing our homes -- over 10,000 every year-- when they had neither proof nor the right to do so!

Congress allowed the I.R.S. to intimidate us and frighten us. Think about it! And then maybe you can begin to understand why I love America but hate the Government -- and why the Government hates me.

The Justice Department had to get rid of me, but I'll be damned if I would back down!

America is in trouble... not from without, but from within! The Central Government has become too powerful. Citizens fear the Government. This is wrong. This is dangerous!

I know the Government covered-up and promulgated LIES about Waco, Ruby Ridge, Pan Am Flight 103, Hoffa, and J.F.K.

The Government knew I was right when I called Janet Reno a traitor. Janet Reno sold us out when she refused to investigate a $10-million payoff to the Democratic Party from a general in the Red Chinese Army (no less!).

Think about it! And the Government knew that I had known why Reno was forced to betray America! I'm proud that I tried to do something about it!

Someday the truth will come out. (I hope China never attacks us!) Many of you have asked what you can do for me. I appreciate this. You can help my family:

Mrs. Tish Traficant 429 N. Main Street Poland, OH 44514

Thank you for remembering me... for thinking of me... for caring!

God Bless!

(Signed)

Jim Traficant

Interesting. I did not know that about Traficant.

However my earlier comment to you was regarding what you said about Pat Buchanan:

"Just read all this stuff about John Demjanjuk and how his guilt was reversed thanks to Pat."

I don't recall Pat Buchanan did much beyond writing his column raising the possibility of mistaken identity.

"Just read all this stuff about John Demjanjuk and how his guilt was reversed thanks to Pat."

I was just repeating Jethro's take on Pat's involvement in the Demjanjuk case. You can clearly see who defended John Demjanjuk.

....and let me tell you, Jim Trafficant was one helluva guy and a great congressman. If the feds hadn't moved Trafficant's trial out of the Mahoning Valley courts and into the Cleveland courts, he never would have been convicted of all this horseshit. So much for a fair trial and a jury of your peers.

Thanks for reminding all of us all the patriotic work that Trafficant did - and of the ride he got on the Federal Railroad.

I'll chip in if he ever runs again.
