Congressman Ron Paul condemns the violence in the Gaza Strip, saying the "collective punishment" against Palestinians is immoral.

"Many innocent children are among the dead. While the shooting of rockets into Israel is inexcusable, the violent actions of some people in Gaza does not justify killing Palestinians on this scale," said the outspoken Republican.

Israel launched Operation Cast Lead on December 27 against Gaza to put an end to rocket attacks launched from the coastal enclave.

At least 888 Palestinians have been killed during the Israeli operation, while some 3,700 others are reported wounded. At least 10 Israeli soldiers have died in the now 16-day onslaught.

Hamas, the democratically-elected ruler of the impoverished strip, demands a cessation of an 18-month Israeli blockade on Gaza before it stops rocket attacks on Israel.

The US Congress endorsed a resolution Friday to support Israel in its offensive in Gaza, "recognizing Israel's right to defend itself against attacks from Gaza."

Congressman Paul, however, says the resolution "clearly takes one side in a conflict that has nothing to do with the United States or US interests."

"At the very least, the U.S. Congress should not be loudly proclaiming its support for the Israeli government's actions in Gaza," Paul added.

The Israeli operation has entered its third week now, despite international calls and a UN Security Council resolution which urge an immediate end to the attacks against the densely-populated strip.

It seems that Mainstream Christianity has been taken over by the Left Behind/DominionistCovenant Theology crowd that says we need to hold the middle east to "help" God with his plans for the end of the world, which these types are arrogant enough to think has to happen in their lifetimes. As I have said so many times, "History repeats itself". It takes many years of patient reading and research to understand just how true that statement is. Unfortunately, I have been trying to cram those many years into the few I have lived in retirement.

I will say that I recognize others on this site that HAVE taken that time. The content of their posts are very enlightening and often give shortcuts to finding the truth.

It does seem to me, however, that this kind of thinking started with Scofield's Secret Rapture notes in his first study Bible, and metastasized from there. (Metastasis is one of my favorite words, and is also my Halo name). Ha!

It has it's roots in Calvinism, but it began with John Nelson Darby, most famous among the Plymouth Brethren in the mid/late 1820's. Darby wrote about the secret rapture which Scofield added to in his study Bible.

A fatal flaw with Christian Zionism is who the remnant are as described in Romans 11. Reading the Church Fathers and re-reading St Paul, one begins to understand the remnant was a then present tense reference. In other words, the remnant for whose sake we were are all grafted onto the branch were the disciples, apostles and scant few followers of Christ. Those who were at that time obedient to God, understanding the Holy Prophets, and recognized Christ for who He was. For their sake, we are grafted onto the branch.

Christian Zionism teaches the remnant is Israel. Some of the more ardent Christian Zionists I have met over the years would say we are continually grafted onto the branch because of modern day Israel and we risk our very salvation turning our back on them as God's chosen people. It gets complex from there and I'm too tired to get into to it much. Israel has a lot of significance. They are still the chosen people of God and God still honors the Abrahamic Covenant of blessing those who bless Abraham (Israel) and cursing those who curse Abraham (Israel). A duality is occurring. God blessing His church through Christ and God is keeping a separate and ongoing blessing with Israel and they are interwoven.

Abraham met with three angles, one of whom was the Divine Logos (Word of God, IE- Christ). Abraham is told by God he would be blessed with offspring too numerous to count, land more than he could possibly fathom because of his faith. Understand what the real covenant is. It is a promise of blessing life over death. Abraham had no son, no land, nothing. In ancient times, this would signify death. Having met the Divine Logos, receiving his blessing of life over death and understanding the sin sacrifice of his only son, heir to this great blessing of life it becomes painfully obvious the Abrahamic Covenant is a symbolic reference to Christ the Savior and preparation for what was coming. Christ who tramples down death by death. In Christ we have life more abundantly. In Christ, life over death. Christ, whose followers are now too numerous to count and stretch out over the entirety of the Earth as now all nations are blessed. Christ, the second Adam, who restored all of creation to it's rightful position with God at His very birth and through His life and death on the Cross, allows the decedents of Adam and Eve to once again live in the fullness and existence of God by having the curse of death lifted, the stain of sin removed.

When you understand the message of Abraham is one of life, the veil comes of Christian Zionism for the blasphemy it is. Christian Zionism is a deception and perversion of death.
