When I picked Mickey the pug up from the pug rescue, which was located in their tiny house stuffed with 12 pugs, they gave him to me for free, with the adoption fee waived. He's blind in his shriveled right eye, and also has some digestive allergies. They had them under control, but they've come back from being in a new place. At least he learned immediately to go to the front door, so he potties outside,
He's got some separation anxiety and tries to jump out of the car to follow me, and always wants to sit in my lap.
Finally, though, he's finally feeling secure enough so that's he's sleeping on the bed behind me, and I don't have to have a 16-pound pug trying to sleep in my lap all the time.
I think his orignal owners abused him a bit, because he doens't want to make eye contact, which is a sign of fear.
At leasdt he's got a nice home now with lots of food and affection.
