Bright sends out e-mail to Mason parents in advance of Inauguration Day. By Eric Schwartzberg and Marie Rossiter Staff writers Thursday, January 15, 2009 Mason school officials said they are taking a proactive educational approach in advance of next week's planned Inauguration Day activities. "Inappropriate comments that may make other students, staff or families feel unwelcome or uncomfortable in school or on the bus will not be tolerated," Superintendent Kevin Bright said in an e-mail sent to parents Monday, Jan. 12. The district, he said, expects students and staff to show respect for President-elect Obama and the incoming administration, as well as President Bush and the outgoing administration, and recognize that "while the election is a competitive process, our nation's greatness is displayed when all sides come together for a united country." Jeff Schlaeger, Mason High School's psychologist, said "inappropriate comments" occurred around election week when doctored pictures of Obama appeared at the school, including "derogatory caricatures" of him dressed like a terrorist and signs that read "Obama '08/Biden '09." "There were groups of students that were worked up over the results of the election," said Schlaeger, who is a member of the district's racial equity committee and curriculum organizer for MHS Freshman Diversity Week. The school is offering a variety of events for students at every grade level, ranging from letter-writing and books, to videos, reflection and watching the inauguration itself, Bright said in the e-mail. "We're attempting to take a more proactive approach now and, first of all, celebrate the passing of power in our country and at the same time also celebrate this historic inauguration and the election of our first African-American president," Bright said during an interview Tuesday. Warren County Commissioner Dave Young, who has three children in the school district, said he questions an "inappropriate comments" policy based on what makes someone feel "unwelcome or uncomfortable." "It's not 'We're discouraging you from saying those (comments)' it's 'It won't be tolerated,' " Young said. "That's a very dangerous precedent."

The real problem is that bureaucrats now feel bold enough to criminalize other peoples hurt feelings. We are going to have to stand up to this one day. Some event will galvanize our side, I'm not sure what it will be, but free men and women simply don't fit into the world they're constructing.
This is in my neck of the woods. Thank God my kids don't go there. Private schools are better.
I read this yesterday. It pissed me off. I was going to call the school and raise some hell. Then I decided not to waste my time. Besides they weren't in session yesterday.
That would only result in you being hung up on. We actually have to wait until someone gets arrested for hurting someones feelings before we can bring this to national attention. And that is going to require groups of activists around the nation who are willing to demonstrate and become vocal. If anyone has a better idea, I'm all ears.

Fixed. (?) It could easily escalate. Someone tells a pig to fuck off when accused of hurting someones feewings and it degenerates from there. A person that does that is not likely to stand down, and that goes for his family and friends too. .

If we had any of these when I was in school ... they were undercover shrinks. You can thank Lyndon Bane Johnson - it is a result of the "Family and Mental Heath Act" passed in '63 or '64. It is when the Psych crowd started moving into the schools to start turning them in "Programming Centers" rather than places where children were educated. The beginning of the decline of SAT scores also begins about the same time. Go figure?

OMG! ZIEG HEIL! ZIEG HEIL! ZIEG HEIL!!! There was a resistance article posted here some time ago that implied no resistance should be undertaken until Freedom of Speech was outlawed. It was a ridiculous article in that it allowed for laws removing weapons from private ownership even without advocating resistance. It's pretty obvious by now that Free Speech has been destroyed by social decree via social engineering, even before it's been totally banned by the State.
