A curious thing has happened to the Republican Party in the wake of its resounding defeat in the November elections. Rather than recalibrate and update its message to meet the challenges of the troubled times in which we live, it has decided to double-down on the philosophical bets that led to its recent losses. No greater evidence this bunker mentality can be found than in the de facto anointment of Rush Limbaugh to the ceremonial post of party king. I chalk it up to shrinkage or that phenomenom that occurs whenever a certain appendage is exposed to the cold. There is a certain denial of the event that is based upon the knowledge that it will eventually return to its normal size...so one goes about HIS business as if nothing has happened despite being painfully aware that it has. I suspect that the GOP is going to get its ass kicked again in "off year" elections next year when some governorships are up...they will limp into the midterms leaning into a left hook and then, and only then will they realize that the field has been moved on them. At that point, we will see if the GOP can survive itself or if it continues down the path of self destruction. My suspicion is that new Blood is going to take over.
well, hello there, stranger. before you count the GOP out, read this. they have every intention of keeping the phony two party fraud going. more than likely, assuming there's no collapse, it will be 8 yrs of dems followed by 8 yrs of pubs. btw, i'm convinced obama was selected by the PTBs as were his predecessors going back who knows how long.
Hello...thought I'd strecth myu internet muscles with a brief walk about... I saw that...it doesn't surprise me. I abhor the politics of 90% of my friends but I certainly do enjoy their company. So, those two appearing on the same stage doesn't seem to me to carry with it an implicit endorsement of one to the other. That all said, I really believe thatthe GOP is still in the denial phase of the November results. Hell, I belive that it's still in the denial phase over Booosh. HIs public approval ratings may be in the toilet but most republicans I know still defend this guy for reasons that I will never understand.
