There are just too many racists that have crawled out of the woodwork and have found a comfortable home here for my liking. There are too many racist statements that are being made and, worse, allowed to remain permanently. My association with such posters, in my mind, is a de facto sanction of rheir behavior. And while I have confronted it as much as possible, it’s increasingly apparent that it’s just not a battle that can be won here. So, given this, I refuse to continue in that mode. I will be a lurker...this still remains a good clearing house for news articles both mainstream and fringe but my posting is going to decrease markedly from here on out. I have been thinking about this for a few weeks now and the ever repetitive, ever increasing derogatory references to Obama based solely on his race have just become too deleterious to any semblance of, even a modicum of, rational debate. Goldi, herself, a few weeks ago, expressed exasperation that other sites have negatively characterized LP. Given the epidemic of overt racism that is allowed to be expressed here and has been given a permanent berth once it has been expressed, in my mind, justifies those characterizations. They see racists everywhere. Or homophobes. Or antisemites. Whoever the enemy de jour is. Important thing is to make sure leftists suffering from this do not isolate themselves in places such as Guyana . That is when what is personally destructive can become an epidemic of insantity. Also important for other leftists to reach out and reassure an afflicted leftist that many of those "racists" or whatever are fellow leftists acting as agents provocateurs (very common on Liberty Forum). Willie and war had a lot in common since they were both from the 'Burgh.
JT didn't mean war, the poster. he meant war as in the phoney WOT and Iraq and, yes, that made him a 'bot to the "lunatic fringe" here. but that isn't the reason he was banned. no one gets banned for their opinions.
Willie was PSU grad, so we'd chat some about football. We also fought the good fight on tFR w/Buchanan ran against the empty suit Dole n '96. Willie had the free trade issue nailed, which made the Rs uneasy. IIRC, Arator was normal then too :)
Well I didn't sign up to argue about war or why Willie was banned. Truth is, I'm tired of all that poo flinging, and I'm just snooping around to see if anybody is over hear bragging about the "nigga" threads that are smearing Goldi's place. And since I don't see any thread over here actively encouraging that nonsense, I'll go elsewhere and leave you guys in peace. Not sure who's doing that kind of stuff nowadays. At least not since the Clown Posse disappeared.

The Buchanan fight on tFR extended to '00, when he ran on the Reform ticket. I'll take your word for it that Willie became a member in '98, but it really isn't important given the amount of time that has passed. That Willie didn't like the freedom of 4um, and insulted the owner over the mess that is Iraq, is what is important. I don't expect to see Arator anytime soon. He has literally turned to the dark side.
