Along those lines, two local banks called me and asked how I was and if I had any concerns they could address. I asked if they would still be solvent in a week (I was half kidding) and they both, very seriously, said, absolutely. CDs at both institutions are just South of 2%.

If Nissan USA is hurting that bad we're really closer to being in a depression than a recession. I suspect that FedGov will do backflips to avoid the "D" word until we're several months into it.
