Turtle has slowly started to buy the pieces of a car kit to build his dream car --a '32 Ford Deuce Coupe.

This is the one John Milner drove in "American Graffiti."

I figure it'll take me about five years to finish it. (1 image)

I too have a dream car but it will have to remain just that. My dream car would be '34 Plymouth coupe with a 440 hemi supercharger or a six pack on top. A nice innocent dark metallic charcoal paint job would complete the car.

Turtle promised me a Delahaye like this to tool around in when I visit the Island.

I'm holding him to his word.

Slave labor????

Any slave should be honored to be allowed to live on Turtle Island.

The coupe is a kit and altogether will cost about $13,000. Excluding my time and labor.

So far I have the radiator, har har. I sit and look at it and imagine the rest of the car behind it.

The Dalahaye is a real car?

Hell yeah. They made thousands of them in France. They had a big truck business, so you know their sedans and coupes had nice beefy engines like LaSalles.

Delahaye

Don't let me down now, Turtle. When I come visit the Island, I don't want to drive nothin' but the best.

While obviously inviting obvious satirical remarks about the designers endowment, the Delahaye you posted reminded me of an upside-down ship. Most modern large ships have a similar bulbous structure at the bow right below the waterline.

The "bulbous bow" on modern sea-going vessels is designed to improve the hydrodynamic efficiency of the hull as it slips through the water.

The cod piece in the Delahaye's sheet metal is pure ostentation.

It's there to look badass when you pull up to the Club where I know that Turtle has my ride on hand when I show up.

Turtle's first car, which his dad bought for $100. Blew it up two months later.

Wish I still had it. I'd have a scoop on it.

Here's my dream truck - a 1959 Chevy Apache stepside, but one that's fully restored. Alas, this shall remain a dream...

Turtle's father was not happy with him for blowing up a $100 car.

I helped a good friend of mine, build 2 1955's.. the last time we talked, he had 17 Best of Shows with the one.. the other has a 400 Small Block w/turbo in it.. ;-)

My first was a 67 Chevelle SS w/396ci 4 speed.. I couldn't blow it up. As my dad told me he would buy me a 454 for it, if I could.. only rule was, I could not let it run out of fluids.. I did many a Power Burn Outs tho... lol
