Poster Comment: I could build this myself for about $10,000, I'd have to pass on the thatched roof because I don't know how to do them, but as for the rest... The walls could be strawbale, or brick. You can make brick out of straw, mud, clay, and paper. You just need lime to set it. Make your own molds, sun dry the bricks, and away you go. $300,000 for a house when you can live in something like this for a fraction of that...people are out of their minds.

It seems that there is information on the internet for just about everything. Have you done a search to see if there is information about how to do a thatched roof?

I wouldn't know about that. Seems that people have been using them for a very long time but I wouldn't know how many of them have burned and what caused the fires. Without knowing all the details I don't think it would be fair to blame the roofing material.
