Yes yet anothering nettlesome post from PV by your High Annoyance. Sue and I heard about the Paso Ancho, the old path, going out of the ols city, where we are. It was said that by going up this dusty road, unoticed by the tourist industry here, you could follow the Rio Cuale and go back in time to the Old Mexico, this was the old road to Guadalahara, I guess about three hundred miles distant. Sounds good to us as the ratter tatter of PV tourisum is fun but a bit wearing, so we put on our rough time shoes, lave the flip flops behind, pack some water and set off by foot. Well our maps are not the best so we tour around the steep streets of the decidly non tourist areas of PV and Sue meets and pets some very appreciative dogs on the sidewalks, so it is interesting and fun, but not the ancient route to Guadalahara. We ask a gentleman how the find the Paso Ancho, and he gives us some hints - we follow them and find Bus 4 going that way, so we pat $1.10 and get on it. The driver is amazing, as we never rolled off into the Rio Cuale, so it was well worth the money. We went through Colonia Bunos Aries, a interesting pueblo where the bus terminated. >So on foot from there, and quickly we left the humid beach enviroment to the jungle cloud forest region. We passed mysterious side roads and ancienct stairs going into the the steep mountains to places we could not see, or understand why these constructions would have ever been made. Passed a lot of very interesting houses with pleasant farms and minor ranches that all were obviously quite self sufficent, a happy scene. After about three miles of steep grades, a mountian biker, stopped and asked us if we knew what we were doing. That was easy to answer, "No". So he told us that there was a zip line a kilo ahead where you could ride a pully on a cable through the canopy of the jungle. News to us , we were just interested in seeing the Colonias original of the region. >So we continued along the dusty road, and Sue stopped and said there were a mass of little parrots in the tree over head, and sure enough there were a bunch of squakers, fussing but narly invisiable. A few minutes we made it to the zip line place. Was a little strange to look out over the mountain vally and see a gringo flying along across the river, several hundred meters above the ground. It was gringoland, so after a bit of rest in some hammocks, we started down the dusty road again. After a mile or two, along the beautiful Rio Cuale, we saw a pleasant looking resturant and gave it a try. It was sweet - had a few brews and got the shrimp quesidellias, with a fantastic hot sauce that wsn,t all that hot , but rich in flavor. Along with a sweet view of the river and cascades and jungle as well as the great and relaked service, t turned out to be a happy place to rest for an hour. Another two miles to where the bus picked us up for a ride to a block of our happy hotel. A race was on for the shower, I won cause I don,t care about the hot water, Sue however....... Probably an early night for us as the last few days have been very fun but demanding.

That is just superstitious nonsense. I am in a perfectly safe palapa in the jungle right now, alone reading my >Historica Real del Gentes de Mexico:, and there is nothing in this dark silent jungle to indicate anything but quietitude and normalancy. So I am not afraid of your northern opressive anaimal superstitions. Not me.
