This building was torn down many years ago, so many that I don't really remember where it was at. People tell me it was at the corner of Grand and Chouteau, which may be true, but I can't say for sure. But I certainly remember this sign. (1 image)

Well, I see the arch in the background. That looks more like N St Louis to me. Maybe Riverview or Hall St?

There's a sign saying Lanes Trucks Stop in the window. Not in business anymore that I can tell. There are a lot of truck terminals in that area.

Keep in mind that truckstops are almost always either right off the exit inside the city, or on the outskirts nad that leaves out your idea.

Judging by the position of the Arch, it'd have to be north St. Louis, so it couldn't be Grand and Chouteau.

Maybe north Grand. Too far from the Arch to be Hall Street or Broadway.

I like trying to figure these things out...

Riverview goes north past I270. But IMO Hall is a possibility. If your looking south, there is nothing to see to the east, which makes sense as it is quite impossible to build on a river.

I'm thinking it is near this: 8430 Hall St. There is still a truck stop (such as it is) at that location. I had the misfortune to get stuck there once overnight.

The problem is that I used to see this sign all the time, and I never went on Hall St. I went over the McKinley Bridge all the time, and that turns into Jefferson, so maybe it was on north Jefferson somewhere.

Again, judging by the position of the Arch, it really seems it had to be in north St. Lous somewhere.

No, I think you're right.

Look at the arch. It is as you would see it looking from the east or the west. My guess is that you are west of the arch.

If you were seeing it from the north, you'd see just 1 side of the arch, not the arching shape.

So your friends could be right.
