Each candidate was an establishment tool, and each 'winner' took us further and further down the rat hole to socialism. Only a partisan RUBE would be able to make a case for one of these POS over the other.

John Nance Garner was the last VP candidate that was worth the powder to blow him to hell.

In 1932, the VP candidate was chosen by the party, not the presidential candidate. FDR was saddled with a decent man, one that played by the rules and followed the Constitution. Garner actually worked behind the scenes AGAINST Roosevelt.

This little squib explains it better than I can. Garner led the fight AGAINST packing the Supreme court.

"Roosevelt and Garner had fundamentally different styles and philosophies of governing. Garner was a strict traditionalist in his attitudes toward party affairs and a strict and unbending constructionist in his literal interpretations of the constitutional doctrine of separation of powers.

He was a staunch defender of the sovereignty of the legislature from undue interference by the executive. Citing the low-key approach of Calvin Coolidge as a model, he once stated "My belief has always been in Executive leadership, not Executive rulership."

Well, Roosevelt had the rules changed so the the presidential candidate could chose the VP, he selected next a Communist, Henry Wallace. In 1944 when the Dems could not swallow Wallace one more time they compromised on an unknown that would be thrown away when Roosevelt decided to quit.

The unknown throw away was Truman.
