Only Ron Paul Can Save Us Now

For the last few weeks Republicans have been ranting about the Democrat raid of the U. S. Treasury. They were using the financial crisis like the Reichstag Fire, we were told, as an excuse to consolidate their power, paying off political constituencies and pushing through spending bills that are loaded with extras totally unrelated to any resolution of the crisis. Even moderates have been alarmed.

To be sure, there is still good will toward our new President Barack Obama. Everyone is too pleased with the idea of an African American president to blame him for anything. The tomatoes are usually tossed at Nancy Pelosi and her partisan gang in the House. Surely the president who firmly promised he would end ear marks and examine each spending bill, line by line, has not lied to us already, this early into his term in office?

But now it turns out that the whiney Republican Party’s own leaders are right in the thick of it all. Six of the top ten pork barrel spenders in the U. S. Senate are in the GOP. Here is that inglorious list.

1. Thad Cochran, R-Miss.: $474 million

2. Roger Wicker, R-Miss.: $391 million

3. Mary Landrieu, D-La.: $332 million

4. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa: $292 million

5. David Vitter, R-La.: $249 million

6. Christopher Bond, R-Mo.: $248 million

7. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.: $235 million

8. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii: $225 million

9. Richard Shelby, R-Ala.: $219 million

10. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa: $199 million

(Source fray.slate.com/discuss/forums/thread/2557139.aspx)

Just making the cut, you’ll notice, is Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa who was upset last summer at Pentecostal-Charismatic television preachers, calling for an investigation, because evangelists like Joyce Meyers, who earns $250,000 a year, are too extravagant with donations. At a time when America is on the verge of the Second Great Depression and unemployment is mounting, he bagged almost $200 million in pork barrel goodies for his buddies back home. At least the people who give to Joyce Meyers’ ministry do so voluntarily.

(By the way, maybe we should have the government run the Churches too, that would make a clean sweep of things. Banks, Insurance, Autos and Churches, as well. Hmmm.)

Is there anyone who can save us from this insanity?

There is really only one option left. Ron Paul. It is a long shot, but if the madness goes far enough and the reaction sets in, the Paulistas just might stage a takeover of the Grand Old Party and Ron Paul would offer America a real choice. It’s a long shot. But four more years of this and America may actually be ready.

Why anyone would bother with strange contraptions like electric chairs for executions is beyond me.

Because people who use them are sadistic f***ks

That "pitiful pile of junk" as you call it is a '69 Buick Gran Sport, a 1969 Buick GS 400 to be exact. I wish I had 1000 of those "pitiful piles of junk" because they are worth a small fortune (each).

And here is a '70 model GSX (it is my understanding that only about 400 of these were built).

the gallows I'll use to hang about 2000 people.

That would be fine by me, but as a matter of historical perspective, I bet a public hanging of about fifty would seriously chastise the power monger of DC and reduce all of them to hiding in their closets.

Must say Rush and Hannity come to mind here as well as the beltway bandits.

Now, on the other hand, if you're looking to punish the prisoners to the greatest degree possible, it's pretty hard to beat either lapidation or crucifixion.

Now that was an uplifting post.

I don't exactly know what lapidation is, but it seems like scourging.

As to the worst punishment - Ill stick with the glass cage in public. Plenty of time for reflections of the agony of what they were and where they are now.

A lasting agony.

I believe it was Rudy Hess that the Russians hated so much that they kept a prison open for just him for decades - death was too sweet for him.

We need a politician who can expose the treachery behind 9/11. Dennis Kucinich is a lone voice that tries to bring it to the forefront, but he needs some powerful allies to join his cause. I'm disappointed that Ron Paul has washed his hands of the matter.

If Paul wanted to make a difference, 9/11 would be THE issue that he should be most concerned about as it would expose the corrupt web of treason and deceipt that is bringing about the demise of our nation.

Paul's problem is that he is a COWARD. Even gun-grabbing socialist kucinich has the cajones to tell the freaking truth about 911. Add in Bob Bowman, who almost won a congressional seat despite using 911 truth as one of his main platforms; Chuck Baldwin also addressed the issue admirably and honestly as a presidential candidate. Cynthia Mckinney. Look at all those people who aren't afraid to mention 911 trutha nd don't disparage the theory as 'absurd and ludicrous' out of WEAK FEAR. So Paul's problem is that he is a weak and dishonest coward.

Things are so bad however that despite all this, I am still so glad he is out there so that when you reference 'ron paul'.,, many people know who is he and like his ideas, the foundation for smaller government and liberty. it is a damn shame when the best spokesman we have is such a weak coward.

I like them too, and even though they are basically the same body I always thought thought the Buicks were much prettier than their corporate cousin GTOs and Chevelles. I'd guess there are a decent number left, since they were a pretty high dollar car to begin with, especially the GSX. There was one in my neighborhood in he early 80s in immaculate condition, as compared to a half dozen dog-eared Road Runners, two of which I remember being totaled by goofy teenagers.

The GS is worth about 30k, tops. The GSX is probably in Hemi Cuda territory, if it's for sale at all.

I've always thought the prettiest car ever built was the 69 Mustang Sportsroof:

We didn't get a lot of Fords in Kokomo, so they were sort of forbidden fruit. It's odd thinking back now what a treasure trove of American Muscle that town was. I knew where there was a 69 SC/Rambler, a 70 Boss 302 Mustang, a 66 GT-350, a first gen AMX, two really nice second gen Javs, about sixty 71-74 Chargers, maybe five of which may still be around, a super clean 71 Torino GT with laser stripe, a beautifully maintained 67 Mustang fastback, a freaking Volvo P1800 believe it or not, and a 70 red Mercury Marauder with the blackout rear deck paint.

Yeah, I suspect you are correct about what a GSX would cost. The one I posted the picture of is not far from where I used to live, at least according to the advertising, but they didn't show a price for it. I am sure it is for sale at some price but I imagine you would have to be very wealthy to afford it.

Anyway, a VERY clean 71 convertible was sold for 36 or 37K, a small-block but with the fresh air package, there were like 4 snorkels coming off the air-cleaner that hooked up to the hood once it was closed.

The System needs a revolution of ideas. Ron Paul doesn't go nearly far enough. We need to revisit everything from 1776 to the present and overhaul the entire system, beginning with:

term limits on all governments offices (local state fed) [one place where the founders really screwed up] overhauling the unjust and tyrannical LegalIndustrialComplex including but not limited to a citizen review board with power to oversee and investigate and reverse any judicial and police action including miscarriages of justice in the courtrooms thereby ending the supreme power of judges and lying police over the Liberty of the people repealing the income tax repealing all gun laws. period. ending the two party system outlawing all contributions to politicians serving and running for office ending all foreign aid and foreign wars eliminating the federal reserve an immediate forgiveness of the outstanding consumer debt of every AmeriKan ending the H1B Visa program forcing employers to hire Americans repeal of SHAFTA ending Social Security contributions for all Americans and allowing them to keep their money immediate distribution back to the people of all money stolen from Americans in the form of SS taxes in a lump sum regardless of age an end to the accumulation and storing of American's personal information from medical records to credit reports an end to the "wars on _____" with the immediate legalization of all naturally growing plants and a release of all in prison solely for possession of these substances destroying the no-fly list implementing national right to carry reinforcing the Second Amendment ban lawyers from serving in public office. Edit: expose the truth behind 911 with an unlimited investigation that can be stopped by no person, agency or lawyer with all records being subject to publication and review, with no claim of "national security" being sufficient to stop their release Edit: Immediate deportation of all illegal aliens.

Lawyers, bankers, judges, LEO agencies (all levels) with no oversight to their misdeeds, domestic traitors in government, and business interests have long held the reigns of power over the rights of the people. This will end. Freedom takes guts. That's just the beginning of this revolution...

No idea should be off limits to discuss.

However uplifting this was to read, I know that it's tantamount to asking a snake congress to pass laws requiring them to swallow their own tails.

Several times when we almost backed them into a corner some smarmy judge would announce that "The Constitution is not a suicide pact!"

And they naturally assume that what's bad for career politicians, (and banksters-Shhhh) lawyers and lobbyists is bad for America....

The simple truth is untold billions of frauds ($) have been wasted annually to enrich lawyers and accountants, tax preparers and even companies that print and prepare millions of tons of paper each year that no one ever reads, but the mere hint of abolishing the income tax and letting America experience an economic boom is unthinkable because it would force armies of non productive "packrats for IRS receipts" to become productive and stop sucking the life's blood from our nation.

Every man needs a dream, and mine is to hunt down former IRS agents (and the federal judges who made tyranny a reality) and treat them the way Eichmann was treated upon capture....

Even a "revenue neutral" sales tax would be vigorously opposed by those hordes of tax parasites and by politicians who use the IRS to intimidate and even destroy their enemies such as citizens who pay too much attention to Rep. Pontius' and Sen. Despot's activities as "public servants".

I mean if we give a govt official the slightest latitude what do we get? A Chief Justice wearing gold hash marks to more closely resemble those he saw on a judge's robe in The Pirates Of Penzance!
