Somewhere earlier on the thread, some of you exchanged remarks about a former poster, can't recall the name. I had the impression of a banning or a blocked IP address, i.e. not a voluntary departure.
Some of you appear to claim the radical free speech position. Given how the owner has couched her terms of service, clearly that is not the case.
Me, I go toward but stop short of the radical free speech position, just last week arguing that it wasn't illegal to shout fire in a crowded theater if there actually is a fire. Not surprisingly, the usual suspects tried to object to even that. It's not a bad argument and can be applied to other topics that are considered too 'hot' for free speech to handle. We do live in an era of political correctness, perhaps not yet at the Soviet level.
correct. there have been few, but in every case they were disrupters--people whose only purpose was to denigrate this forum and its members. i'm sure some were paid shills.
Doesn't surprise me at all. I just thought some posters here were claiming something you couldn't possibly deliver. Anyway, I've never seen such a forum of any size that had radical free speech.
But at FR, the hyenas and jackals used Private Mail as a tool to gang-bang and cannibalize those who opposed The Cult-of-Bush, or those who had/have the "gall" to go against the grain of the consensus.
I think most of us can recognize how destructive that was at FR. At LP, there were times I might have liked to exchange a note with a likeminded person. But I thought private mail was so detrimental at FR that I liked LP better for not having the feature.
I suppose people speaking freely amongst themselves is a radical position for some.
As important as speech is the right to associate freely and those rights of property. If some knucklehead wanders onto your property, you have every right to tell them to scoot.

I registered at FR in 2000, I think it was, but did not post there very often. It seemed to me to be a venue in which all of the kids who through the years had been denied a place at the Kewel Kids table or had been pummelled in dodgeball decided to congregate to plot their revenge. Kind of an everted Lord of the Flies.
Oddly, enough, I wasn't banned there until a couple of years ago when some Dick tried to engage me in a cross forum war. And, fwiw, in my direct dealings with JR he was reasonable and a gentleman.
#918. To: litus, sneakypete, TooConservative, all (#743)
(Palo) Goldi's candidate was Tancredo, she would have accepted LP becoming Tancredo all-the-time if he had not dropped out
(Litis) Very true; I forgot about that. She was all gungho behind Tancredo ... Ron Paul was a genuine threat to Tancredo at the time.
Litis, LP is a forum divided over the war on terror half support it, believe it makes our country safe half are against it, think it is war on the bogeyman
all of us on LP who do not support the war on terror in any way supported Ron Paul to the hilt the others chose a different candidate
don't forget Goldi supports the war on terror there is no way she would support Ron Paul, who would have ended it
as owner of LP, Goldi was able to enforce her views during election ban Ron Paul articles, support Tancredo and Hunter articles some left because of this I left and returned as Pete said in an earlier post, and forgive me Pete if I got this wrong (I paraphrase) "I could not do half a good a job as Goldi in moderating the forum" I go further than Pete, I would be a disaster as forum moderator whatever its up and downs, I think LP was a good forum for someone who wants to be on an all-viewpoints forum Love, Palo
Mmmm...and of course no one else does this? You can't be that naive. As for LP or FR or other forums I've belonged to, I suppose fascist and racist are epithets you can hurl, much as the organized Left does when frustrated or when they lack arguments with any substance. The tactic is quite familiar.
No frustration, just fact. You've been calling me names all throughout this thread and I just let them go and keep asking you to clarify one comment that you are now finding it's impossible to run from.
But a poster who spells his handle 'nooz' couldn't possibly have some issues? LOL. Obviously, you're just a wee bit sensitive about anyone pointing it out
If you must know, nooz is for news. I liked the way it looked. Happy now? Feel better? Got to the bottom of that one.
Now, to get to the bottom of JEWIER. Since you are hot for solving mysteries, solve this one for us.
Personally, I prefer divergent views instead of an echo-chamber, but then again, the OCD-parrots can be annoying.
I too like divergent views on a forum for me it enriches the experience I think because I discover I can see some things differently, and some things the same with many posters plus I get some idea where others are coming from, it helps my understanding Love, Palo
And, fwiw, in my direct dealings with JR he was reasonable and a gentleman.
I have to agree with blue, anyone that knew RimJob and paid attention could not but help coming away with the knowledge that he was a con artist at best.
Robinson conned hundreds of people, so you are not alone.
Ron Paul was indeed as principled and as intellectually honest a politician as possible...
Not right on all the issues (but who is?), but no one could accuse him of conspired against We-The-People as 90% in Congress and in the Executive Branch have.
Look at the source for deCoster's last link. I'll be surprised if that doesn't draw the attention of certain self-appointed guardians of politically correct speech.
Anyway, I thought it notable since the linked site normally can't get such link traffic from a site as big as LRC is. Certainly, I've never seen such a link there before. It's a bit of a risk for them.
We know posters here like that. The kind that duck dodge hide by saying things like "Both parties are corrupt but republicans are evil.." It's the "BUT" that exposes their true colors. My patience...tolerance if you will...is gone for those who participate in this mad display of cognitive dissonance.
Yeah, the R's ARE evil (most of them anyway) but so are most of the D's. Almost all of them are just bought-and-paid-for whores doing the bidding of the real powers behind the scenes (the bankers).

Happy now? Feel better? Got to the bottom of that one.
I already had. You just didn't like it. :)
Now, to get to the bottom of JEWIER.
My stars, with all caps now. I'm starting to get a real kick out of this. As an aside, I'll point out that it is a rare word in that it rhymes with 'chewier'.
I think most of us can recognize how destructive that [Private mail] was at FR...I thought private mail was so detrimental at FR that I liked LP better for not having the feature.
Aye...
Before you knew it, suddenly a half-dozen zombified Freepers would descend on their "victim" like Night 0f the Living Dead - and it's still occurring. The predictable punctuation would be the appearance of Der Fuhrer himself, Jim Robinson to deliver the Final ZOT.
True, the lack of the mail-feature made an organized lynch-mob far less likely."At LP, there were times I might have liked to exchange a note with a likeminded person."
THAT much is true, and on the plus-side of the ledger for having a inter-forum mail feature.
I joined FR in 1997 or so. I was banned after 9/11 for daring to question Der Leader in Wartime.
My opinion about FR, aside from what I have already posted here, is that once Clinton's cock was out of the mix, it was doomed to go the way of stolybreath.com. I'm surprised that there is any interaction there. I may go check it out today because we've kind of put it in the cage but, as a site, I found most of the threads to be echo chambers bereft of any real exchanges and it's ben years since I've lurked and months since I've even looked at it..
Sneak...you and I agree almost all the never...this is the one time I will agree with you...you never called for anyone to be banned...
Hi war I agree with you I never saw Pete ask for anyone to be banned and while we are at it, I compliment you on this too it seems to me you never wanted anynoe banned and you always wanted the banned to be unbanned Love, Palo
She took repeated dumps on Ron Paul and his supporters
She even threatened to ban people for posting articles about Ron. Do you remember that? She said something to the effect that she didn't want to see any more articles about him unless he had died or something. Real class, eh?

LOL - well put.
" Oddly, enough, I wasn't banned there until a couple of years ago when some Dick tried to engage me in a cross forum war. And, fwiw, in my direct dealings with JR he was reasonable and a gentleman."
IF you happened to engage a Brownshirt Mod directly while he/she was in their poster-mode (and began wiping the floor with that poster), you became a candidate for banning.
As to JR reacting "reasonable and gentlemanly," THAT must have been a looong time ago in another galaxie - before he became a "celebrity" pr*ck and Stalinist tool of the GOP/Bush/NWO machine.
