Title: My Bank Was Just Siezed By The FDIC

Just got notice that my Bank, Colorado National Bank,(Actually TEAM BANK out of Kansas City) failed and its assets have been assumed by Great Southern out of Springfield Mo.

The post by Rotera informed me of this, tho it stated CNB was assumed by another bank.

I knew our bank was likely to fail.

I'll need to do a bank run in about an hour and get ten or twelve thousand dollars.

I called the bank and they said all was normal, and did I need a run?

I hate living in interesting times.

USAA says they are in fine shape, as did an officer of CNB a few months ago to me personally.

I pointed out there was nothing else she could say, and she silently agreed.

FDIC will be broke this year without a massive infusion of tax dollars.

Remember the Captain of the Titanic telling the people not to panic.

And FDR telling the people all was sound with the USD, then a week later it was devalued by 40%. (1934?)

Re run...

I have been around since immaculate birth in 1933 of Roosevelt.

In my personal opinion, Bush presided over and managed the most harm being done to this country by any president since FDR.

And the people let him get away with it.

I had some family members that held gold, coughed that up and FDR devalued the dollar. They were staunch FDR people til then.

The remaining FDR lovers bailed out after he started hauling them into the Army at 25 bucks a month and getting shot at.

Some people have hard heads and need a pounding before they see they have been swindled. I suspect we have this case once again with the current Savior.

interesting times suck, bump

If I had to bet it all on any one bank's solvency, it would be USAA. And then there's that bank in MA that has zero non-performing loans, and got hammered by the FDIC for being too cautious.

Go figger...

Turtle LIVES in a bank.

On the river.

That's where worms generally reside.

Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands upon the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break in pieces.

For that amount of cash, or even a check, it is highly possible they will tell you that you will have to wait at least 5 days or so (business days).

If I were you, I would NOT accept a check....get cash!!

Reason: the receiving bank could put a HOLD on your check...for weeks. This happened to others after IndyMac failed....

You may want to check out these links to help guide you toward a safer bank prior to putting your money into another bank:

generated from FDIC data. There is the troubled list of course, and two lists of well capitalized banks with few bad assets for a safer place for your money. The nice bank list is broken up into two lists by state to reduce the file size of each list.

Wells Fargo is buying out a small Texarkana bank called Century Bank. Century Bank employees have been advised that Wells Fargo will not honor Century Bank cashiers checks.
