You're lucky the public access channel turned you down. It would be grounds for Jones to sue you and win easily.

If you had Alex's written permission there would be no problem. But it is doubtful if he would give permission if his ad(s) was/were deleted.

He wouldn't anyway. He can't.

If he allowed that, then any eBay scammer could sell it at any price, destroying Jones' profits.

If Jones fails to pursue his copyrights and protect them, it becomes an implicit permission for people to take it for their own. This is how jello became a generic trade name back in the Fifties and how it became known as "Jell-O™". Believe me, they guard their trademark property now. It's the classic example of the need to protect trademarks and copyrights.

In truth, I should actually include a footnote to acknowledge that "Jell-O™" is a registered trademark of the Jell-O Corporation or some such. I suppose their lawyers will let it slip for a forum posting. But if this were a magazine or TV show, they'd be right on it with cease-and-desist letters or demands for public corrections.
