Yeah, that ol' boy appeared to be in bad shape and I reckon he probably had a humdinger of a headache the next day--probably bombed out of his mind on pinga.

I don't know if I've ever seen worse. What is pinga?

Brazilian moonshine. Legal too.

Cachaça (IPA: [ÌkaȃasP]) is the most popular distilled alcoholic beverage in Brazil. It is also known as "aguardente", "pinga", "caninha" or other names. Cachaça is mostly produced in Brazil, where 1.5 billion liters (396.4 million gallons) are consumed annually (roughly eight litres per head), compared with 15 million liters (3.964 million gallons) outside the country.[1] Cachaça is, "...the product of the distillation of fermented sugarcane juice, with its alcohol strength anywhere from 38% to 80% by volume. When it is homemade it can be as strong as the distiller wants. Up to six grams per liter of sugar may be added."[2]

Cachaça differs from rum in that it is made from sugarcane juice while rum is made from either molasses or sugarcane juice then aged in oak barrels.

1.3 billion liters of Cachaça is produced each year. Only 1% of this production is exported (mainly to Germany).[3]. Outside Brazil, cachaça is used almost exclusively as an ingredient in tropical drinks, with the caipirinha being the most famous cocktail.

The caipirinha, the national cocktail of Brazil.

Primary alcohol by volume

* Cachaça

Served On the rocks; poured over ice
Standard garnish lime
Standard drinkware: Old fashioned glass
IBA specified ingredients†

* 5.0 cl (1U2; fl oz) cachaça
* ½ Fresh Lime cut into 4 wedges
* 2 teaspoons Muscovado sugar

Preparation Place lime and sugar into old fashioned glass and muddle (mash the two ingredients together using a muddler or a wooden spoon). Fill the glass with crushed ice and add the Cachaça. Notes A wide variety of fresh fruits can be used in place of lime. In the absence of cachaça, vodka can be used.

That's a lot of drinking going on down there.

Sounds sweet and strong.
