General Motors and Segway have developed a two-wheel, side-by-side passenger electric vehicle which aims to reduce traffic congestion in cities. Called PUMA, it will have a 35-mile range on a charge of its Li-ion battery and travel at up 35 mph. While still in its prototype stage this self-propelled rickshaw is estimated to cost (ownership and operation) a third or quarter of that of a car. You gotta give GM credit, they never give up. They're about to go tits-up, screw about a bazillion suckers who threw away 20, 30, 40 years of their lives slaving away on some shitty assembly line out of their promised pensions and health care, but managed to come up with God-knows how many millions/billions of dollars building this piece of shit, with the sole intention of further discrediting the electric car.

The thing's not even street-legal, for Christ's sake.

I'll tell you what, the first company that puts an EV1 powertrain in a Honda Fit body is gonna have the world by the balls. Betcha dollars for donuts it'll be a Chinese company that does it, and we'll be buying them at Sam's Club and Wal-Mart.

It's not much stupider than most other modern car designs.

Kind of like an oversized electric wheelchair for two.

Okay, it really is that much stupider.

Okay, it really is that much stupider.

But it WILL combat congestion.

Because there will be exactly 0.0 of them on the road.

It would cure future congestion as well since driving anything that gay would turn anyone into a homo.

No kidding, the Chinese must be laughing their asses off at that thing. CNBC showed some pictures of one bumping & bobbing down the road. Apparently the axle is not suspended. Smart.

I did a quick search for 'electric vehicle China', they've got some pretty nice ones ready to roll.

4 wheels (no training wheels), suspension, doors, windows, 75mph, the works. It looks like Warren Buffet bought one of the companies.
