Obama's got so much on his plate now, though, that this could be a fatal overreach.

Obama can do anything he likes with impunity, at least for a while. He has the media establishment forcing Americans to like what Bush was pushing on us. The tube will tell the faithful what they must do, and they will accept.

Sometimes these tyrants get away with it, but also sometimes they go too far, and fall.

One neat thing about history (and the economy as well), it's hard to see the turning point coming when you're there at the time.

As Charlie Chan was fond of saying, we live in interesting times.

I watched "Charlie Chan at the Olympics" yesterday. What a knockout, Pauline Moore, who was in the movie. She was also in another couple of Chan movies.

Why don't they play those Charlie Chan movies on TV anymore? They were my childhood faves.

My brother sent me a bunch of Charlie Chan DVDs, and a lot of them are really well restored.

"Charlie Chan at the Olympics" was from 1936, and the picture was as sharp as could be.

However, the later Chans from 1944 on, which were produced by budget studio Monogram, were grainy when they first came out and still are.
