Napolitano defends DHS report

In remarks broadcast on KVIA-TV El Paso, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano further explained her department’s report on right-wing extremism.

“Sorry to say, but it’s the reality we deal with,” she said. “We have several factors that could lead to an uptick in extremist violent activity. That’s all that report was designed to do.”


“We do not exist to infringe, impinge or invade anybody’s Constitutional rights of free speech, of free assembly or anything else like that. We exist to protect the country against the homeland [sic] consistent with the United States Constitution,” Napolitano explained. “In there is where that product was created and what it was designed to do. Nothing more, nothing less.”

She returned the subject later in her remarks.

“There is one thing I regret about that report and that it is being read by some to suggest that all veterans of our military services are somehow at risk of become extremists and committing violent acts in the homeland. My department is filled with veterans,” Napolitano said. “There is no department that believes in our veterans more strongly than the United States Department of Homeland Security. Nonetheless, I concede where some would interpret this report in that way. So I reached out to the leadership of the America Legion who raised this concern today and said let’s get together next week—clear the air.”

Good research, litus. I'd like to call attention to the above statement found in our Declaration of Independence. Notice that it does not say that a majority needs to agree. It also does not say that such would have to be done within the confines of existing governmental procedure, which by definition of a corrupt system would be impossible.

Ours is such a corrupt system, and it is Napolitano's sworn job to prevent real dissent. She understands her role well. Homeland security might as well be named kingdom security.

There's more information here. 9/11 is just the ploy to "justify" taking away Constitutional rights from Americans. 9/11, which is suspect and has never been properly investigated, and which would likely lead to profound discoveries concerning traitorous acts, murders plotted and committed at the highest levels of our government...this occasion created the "need" to spy on Americans, single out Americans, and turn this country into a fascist country.

Terrorists, and the "right" to suspect Americans of potential "terrorist" acts include singling out those who adhere to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and believe in the Rule of Law.

SEC. NAPOLITANO: Yeah, let me, if I might, just pause a moment, and say what that report is and what it is not.

Within the Department of Homeland Security, there is something -- there is a division on intelligence and analysis, because we have to be concerned with the threat of terrorism all the time. This department was stood up because of a terrorist act: 9/11. We wake up in the morning wondering what we need to do, working on what we need to do to protect this country from terrorism, be it foreign -- foreign or domestic.

(U//FOUO) Similarly, recent state and municipal law enforcement reporting has warned of the dangers of rightwing extremists embracing the tactics of “leaderless resistance” and of lone wolves carrying out acts of violence. —

(U//FOUO) Arrests in the past several years of radical militia members in Alabama, Arkansas, and Pennsylvania on firearms, explosives, and other related violations indicates the emergence of small, well-armed extremist groups in some rural areas. ordnance that they planned to use in attacks on nearby military and federal facilities and infrastructure targets. —

The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today. —

(U) After Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1990-1991, some returning military veterans—including Timothy McVeigh—joined or associated with rightwing extremist groups. —

U) A prominent civil rights organization reported in 2006 that “large numbers of potentially violent neo-Nazis, skinheads, and other white supremacists are now learning the art of warfare in the [U.S.] armed forces.” —

(U//LES) The FBI noted in a 2008 report on the white supremacist movement that some returning military veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have joined extremist groups.
