Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled

A fatal attraction is holding me fast, how Can I escape its irresistible grasp? Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit, I

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything No navigator to guide my way home Unladened, empty and turned to stone

A soul in tension that's learning to fly Condition grounded but determined to try Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer, My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air, Across the clouds I see my shadow fly Out of the corner of my watering eye

A dream unthreatened by the morning light Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night There's no sensation to compare with this Suspended animation, A state of bliss Can't keep my mind from the circling skies Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

That brings back memories. They were the one band I listened to that my parents wouldn't say "turn that damn stereo down!" They hated everything else.

It's a fine line between being too specific and long winded and therefore too irritating to bother to read, and being too cryptic and therefore too irritating to try to interpret.

Like Black Sabbath?

I would play Neil Young and since my dad liked him (a lot!), that could go up full blast (and the Beatles too).

Sabbath, Zepplin, ac/dc, kiss, groups like that. Now I am getting old and hate the crap the young 'uns listen to. Bubble gum crap. They wouldn't know a great guitar solo if I beat them upside the head with a Les Paul. They stand on stage and hop around like f'n rabbits and play nothing but chords and "sing" with their sniveling whiny voices.

I better stop now ;)

Those are just some of the great bands. Even when I was much younger than now, I never could stand the rap crap. When I had the wonderful experience of being my kids taxi prior to their driving, they were not allowed to play that crap on my car radio. I can't tolerate what they call "music."

Ahh geez,. just clicked on this post and remembered. this song was the favorite of a close family friend in TX who had served in the army and went to bosnia under clinton. he spoke vaguely of the horrible things he had saw and experienced there and it seemed to torment him. when i saw him last May, he mentioned this song and how he thought of it when jumping out of airplanes. He shockingly died a few months ago of a 'heart attack' at the age of 36. His mom played this song at his funeral wake. ;-( rest in peace Louie.

lol! No. My mom liked elevator music. I don't think AC/DC, Yes, Neil Young, or Collective Soul (one of my all time favorite bands) comes close to qualifying near to that! : )

One of my favorite Collective Soul (slow) songs:

That is a very sad story...he was way too young to have died like that! I'm very sorry for your (and his family's) loss.
