Christmas 1943, a badly shot up B-17 struggled to stay in the air, it was the first mission for the 21-year-old pilot, half his crew lay wounded. Then the dark shadow of the feared Bf-109 pulled along side the bomber. Worse, at it’s controls was a German fighter ace looking for his next target. Keeping it secret at the time, during the war, may have spared the German pilot's life, so it was a fortuitous move for him.

If you watched the entire vid you saw that the German pilot had immigrated to Canada and was living in Vancouver, not far from Seattle where the American B-17 pilot was located. They turned into fishing buddies too. Not a bad outcome. ;)
