In the past automation has always, after a while, increased jobs and improved productivity. However, it the past, humans have always been more intelligent than the machines that need humans to operate.

In the future that may not be true because robots may be more intelligent then humans.

If there were no illegal aliens, people with thousands of acres of market garden crops like fresh fruits and vegetables would have to sell their land to small farmers who would go away from Big Ag to No Till, No Pesticide, No Fertilizer to lots of compost and vermicompost. We would eat healthier food.

Robot can do some specific tasks much better than humans, but they are not even close to surpassing humans. Humans are multi-tasked. Robots can hardly walk. They don't see well. Any 12 year old, could (1) clean houses, (2) mow lawns, and (3) clean up the dining room tables, and wash and put away dishes. That would apply for any and every house in a neighborhood. No robot could do any of that; let alone all of it.
