When I worked for State of Illinois, I got hit by a drunk driver at my turn around point on snow and ice at the county line.

When he hit me he knocked the driver side fuel tank plum off the truck.

I had to back up to keep the intersection open. I jumped out of the truck and ran over and pulled the keys from his ignition.

The right front wheel was pushed against the firewall and the engine was still purring like a kitten.

I told the cop that came out the firemen said he was pretty messed up (drunk). The cop said, "That's all I needed to know." He went to the hospital and ordered a blood draw. I bet that guy lost his license and had to go into rehab for the booze.

I had a lawyer check him out. He told me, "He's living at home and has nothing."

I took a week off on comp since I was shook up over the incident. ;)

I was out on night patrol once on Milwaukee Ave in Illinois. The Des Plaines River was just to the east of that road.

A car going southbound went off the road since there was a lazy curve to the left and it went thru a guard rail and hit an old bridge wall at the entrance to a restaurant there.

The front wheels were folded up like landing gear on an airplane. The steering wheel took the girls head off. It was pretty gruesome. The cops showed me her license with her picture.

A buddy of mine knew her. He said they used to party together. She was likely very drunk when that wreck happened. :-/

That is why these laws are so obscene because there is no recourse for the person in question to face their accusers, address a court, or even prove anything with regard to their personality or mental state. You simply have some goons show up at your house, they take your guns, leaving you defenseless and if you protest, you get shot or go to jail either way.

The courts will then destroy your guns, and you’ll get “Fair Market Value” which of course means what they pay the people for their gun “buy back” program.

No, these laws are wrong, and you know what? If someone wants to kill themselves, fucking let them. Who are you to judge how someone’s life is to where you have any say over what is best for them? Let those who want to kill themselves do so I say.

Been there, done that. Twice. Sucks. The first time they had 20-30 cop cars surrounding my block, only 3 or 4 at my now late mother's house (she was just out of the hospital from having a heart attack). We were accused of killing my younger Down's Syndrome and handicapped sister. This was 2014, FWIW my younger sister died of Sepsis in a Medicaid Waiver home in August 2019.

Exactly. Discounting the suicides, in ten years there were 407 gun deaths in Iowa. I doubt that many other states have that low a statistic.

My immediate family has experienced 4 suicides, one was accidental, the other three were suicide by way of a pistol, no accident. One comment I'd like to make right off is that trying to figure out suicides is a waste of time. There's no figuring it out unless an explanation is left by the person committing the act. Secondly, I am a gun owner that doesn't go hunting wild game. I have weapons for self protection from whatever human animals decide to fuck up my day.

I have been asked by friends and other family members whether I own guns. My reply is yes, why do you ask. These people remind me of my family history and ask if owning guns doesn't bother me. My response is that it's my choice and up until lately I have always aimed the other way.

Your analysis of the law (red flag) is spot on. This red flag law should be completed by placing the hammer and sickle appropriately upon every expression of it. Most of us that participate on this 4UM have sat idly by for many years while America has become a communist shit hole. Flag waving, speech giving pieces of shit have become our rulers while we have patiently awaited a savior. There ain't one other than the united efforts of the American people standing firmly against the tyrants that have infected D.C. like syphilis, slowly killing the spirit of a once great nation.

Lastly, I would like to state for the RECORD that suicide should be a last resort. However, when terminally ill and suffering the ravages of some likely man made fucking disease, in my most humble opinion, suicide is the wiser choice than bankrupting one's heirs with hospital bills, and burial arrangements. (There must have been a mortician involved in anti-suicide propaganda). Like you said Mr. Mad Artist, if they want to kill themselves "FUCKING LET THEM" and leave it. There's no figuring it out.
