None of the injuries were serious. About 45 others were evaluated at the scene.

Light snow was falling in the area at the time, according to weather.com meteorologist Chris Dolce. Temperatures were in the upper 20s.

Even though the snowfall is light, it has contributed to slippery road conditions this morning, particularly on bridges, Dolce said. The snowfall should end by late morning.

Snowfall is less common in Chicago by mid-April. The average last measurable snow of the season in the Windy City is March 31.

But the city saw several inches of snow a year ago from mid to late April, when 5.4 inches piled up on April 14 followed by another 2.5 inches on April 27.

More snow could hit parts of Chicagoland on Friday as another weather disturbance sweeps through the Midwest.
