About 20 years ago -- here in the Buckle of the Bible belt -- I went to my daughter's piano recital at Furman U. Heard ungodly screaming from the next auditorium over -- thought there was a gunman or a fire or something. Rushed over, flung open the double doors at the back of the auditorium -- and God is my witness -- 200 or so parents and other perverts were lustfully caterwauling over a young children's burlesque show on the stage.

I almost did a Rippin' Richie on 'em. Have often wished I had.

The Confederate Furman brothers would disown that Baptist den of iniquity as quickly as Dr. Dabney would damn the Presbyterian Historical Society.

There's another shock for the collexion! That place is disgusting. Lastime I was there they were having World Citizen Week. Would somebody please tell me what a world citizen is? An impossibly banal idea -- a total contradiction in terms. One of the 1st manifestations of the 'everybody gets a prize' sickness!

I'm pleased to report, though, that I may have routed FU's president in one little skirmish. Some years his communist letters to the editor started appearing in a conservative local weekly paper (Trav Rest Monitor). He didn't mention his connection to FU, just wrote under his own name. I answered these outspokenly and his stopt appearing.

I spent a few minutes browsing their website and it was nauseating.

I emailed the FU prez (stop me if you've heard this one) "Tell me where you're from please. I'm writing you up and don't know whether to call you a scalawag or a carpetbagger."

His name was Shi, though he looked white. Have always wondered what they hey kind of name that is -- prolly short for Schiff, Schildkraut or something.

David -- that's a typical Irish name, isn't it? Although a "native of Atlanta", he sounds half NYC to me.

At his retirement from Furman, Shi beamed that his greatest achievement there was extending insurance benefits to the university's employees' fag partners. Of course for that he was roundly applauded by the Greenvile News et al.

We used to make runs down to Florida in the big truck every week back around 2002 and 2003.

One time I had this green kid with me. I figured he would get lost running around the circle in Atlanta, so I drove the middle part of the run.

We left Lake Park Georgia and I hit the sleeper. When I woke up I asked where we were at. He said, "Hightway 27."

I could ell by the lights on left side of road he went too far.

I told him, "Get over in the next left turn lane and pull all the way up to the median across the way. When you make your turn get the tractor all the way over on the shoulder. Otherwise he would have pulled the trailer across the median and we were heavily loaded.

Luckily we were still on time for the delivery. Otherwise we would have had to wait for everyone else to be unloaded.

And that wasn't the only time he missed a turn. I wonder if he could read signs?

I could read a map and find my way around. This guy was just plain lost and I bet he is no longer driving a truck. ;)
