Hitler told his staff that, IF THE FRENCH CAME IN FORCE FROM THE WEST HE WOULD HAVE TO RUN FOR HIS LIFE, all would be lost.
However, Hitler knew the French were cowards and he was right. When the French did NOTHING the Russians jumped in from the east and took most of Poland.
WWII was then set in concrete because of the damned cowardly French.

Before Germany invaded France, they sent the gold out of the country. FDR sent the Navy to capture it and they did.
Now France is demanding gold for all balance of payment deficits. Why not? It is THEIR gold. LOL

Germany was getting its steel from neutral Sweden.
When the higher quality iron supplies were threatened with being cut off it caused huge consternation. ;)
