Good morning, I’m still reporting on: U S Senate – Repeal the Johnson Amendment, 2497

Synopsis:
I know it’s hard to keep up with the news during these last days of December – and especially today – Christmas Day.

But this just came to my attention this morning, and it’s on a pretty short fuse – so please pay attention. In 1954, then Senate Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson inserted legislation into the IRS Code language that has been used by the IRS to conduct invasive audits of Christian ministries and withhold tax exempt status for nonprofits for political reasons. It’s been a thorn in the side of every church in America since then.

After 64 years, Christendom finally got the political muscle to get the House of Representatives to pass a new bill to repeal this law before they adjourned for Christmas break. It’s called HR 88 – the repeal of the Johnson Amendment.

But the Senate hasn’t yet taken it up.

Poster Comment:

It is important to revisit this and to get it put back on the burner again. Repeal of the Johnson Amendment will remove the persecution of Christians in this Christian nation.
