WTAF? Why weren't those lying MFers declared in contempt and whisked off to Guantanamo?

Apparently I'm in need of a remedial Civics 101 course.
I thought it used to be a bad thing to blatantly lie to judges or Congress.

A guy I work with his kid lied to a judge and ended up being sent up to Juvenile detention for a year or so.
I told him when I worked concerts I found a 35 mm film container out in front of the venue. I opened it and there was good weed in it. I didn't smoke that stuff so I sold it to someone.
The kid said, "I would've smoked it."
I said, "No you wouldn't. This happened back in the early 90s. You were a gleam in your Daddy's eye back then."
Someone likely was afraid they would have got caught with it so they ditched it. ;)

I call it the 'End of Vietnam' ploy -- even before that mess was officially lost it was alleged that getting the troops home would be a problem -- how do get them all back in any decent length of time? IOW when they want to move men and materiel instantly, they do it. The War Of Terror started popping on OCT. 7, 2001!
