Because that will be about what it costs to buy two weeks worth of groceries pretty soon. Ever since 2007 the price of just about everything food related has doubled, and the reason why is because when the tarp money was spent to bail out the bankers, instead of using that liquidity to prop up small business and create jobs, they took that money and invested in coal, oil, gas, and natural gas. Then they invested in beef, pork, and poultry futures as well as agribusiness. The supply of food is owned largely by the big banks, and when that investment was made, the prices began to go up, because now the banks are shareholders. Add to that the number of houses on the dole and we are not competing against our own tax dollars in the market.

Bitcoin still looks too risky to me. In early 2018 it dropped off pretty fast after its rapid rise in 2017. And it took 3 years to get back to that just-under-$20k peak. If the 2020-2021 curve looks like the 2017-2018 curve then it could drop hard and fast. I'm happy for the all the people who've done well with it! But I strongly suspect that sooner or later it will drop like a rock, and a lot of people will get burned when it does.

A funny thing about Bitcoin is that its fans (not talking about you here, Ping) chronically accuse its detractors of not understanding the technology, not knowing what a hash is, etc. As if somebody who did understand all that just couldn't be opposed to putting his life savings in Bitcoin. And here's another good one: anybody who doesn't want to invest heavily in Bitcoin must be convinced that it's going to tank soon, so he ought to short Bitcoin. If he doesn't he's a hypocrite. What kind of logic is all that?

I remember in 2011 when silver was $40/oz and people were still buying it.

I have property in the middle of nowhere and no neighbors for 27 miles there. You can better believe that if things go to shit, it will be a much better place to be, than in the middle of the hood where I currently reside. While it’s not as bad as some parts of my city, I can tell you that in the span of 10 years I went from being an artist to a gun trainer and a pretty good one too.

Though I think I am set on most of my provisions and what not, mobility is key for me. Fixing a vehicle and getting a place put up on the land is where things are currently headed. Have nearly everything I need, just need to haul it out.

When we delivered flowers in the big truck, we picked up loads in west suburban Miami. We would go into this Cuban restaurant for lunch. They had Colada, which was Espresso with sugar. We would get a extra large cup of that and take it back to the warehouse. They would split it between two or three guys to give them energy.

After we got loaded we stopped in north Florida for greens.

That's funny. By some weird coincidence, I landed a job ferrying cars for an exotic car dealer, for awhile.

The punks didn't know how to drive a stick, and the insurance company wanted an old fart if'n the value of the car was over 75k.

Made a pretty good name doing that shit, it was kind of stressful, if it was a RHD.

Shit, the last one was some RHD something-or-other, they had to have a driver in front and back to protect the damn thing.

I'm sure you're wondering why. Because specialized car haulers (like the NASCAR) guys are few and far between in NE IN.
