Following the ongoing efforts to remove US forces from Afghanistan, chatter has begun to emerge regarding the potential pullout of American troops from nearby Iraq, which has endured the presence of US soldiers since the 2003 invasion to oust then Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Top US and Iraqi officials are expected to issue an announcement in the following days that will call for the removal of American soldiers from the war-torn nation by the end of 2021, it was revealed Thursday.

Citing knowledgeable officials, the Wall Street Journal reported that senior officials have come to the agreement that Iraq’s partnership with the US needs to shift away from a military presence and focus instead on increasing intelligence cooperation.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein told the Journal that the Middle Eastern country does not “need any more fighters” since it already has a sufficient supply. “What do we need? We need cooperation in the field of intelligence,” he underscored.

Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan have been a giant drain on the resources of outside powers that have gotten themselves mired in that muck. That includes the US, Russia, Iran and Turkey.

Iran is celebrating a US exit from Syria and Afghanistan, but it is not going to like the consolidation of a militant Sunni government and military on its west. The mullahs have beggared their nation with their militant ventures in the neighborhood. The Chinese are going to find their new Afghan hosts to be a thorny bunch to deal with also.

I wonder if the ginourmous numbers of American trucks, guns, military vehicles, crates of ammo, etc., have been abandoned over there just by just accident.

I wonder how much military hardware we are leaving behind this time??? After all the Taliban is set for life now, I can only imagine what we will be leaving the Iraqis. I bet we are leaving them nukes. Because that would be about the stupidest thing we could do, and considering Afghanistan, I am waiting for the military’s “Hold My Beer” moment when it comes to screwing up good and proper.
