Subway

I was sitting in front of the Sonic drive in and a guy was digging the trench for the water line for the new Subway.

I told him when I worked for the State of Illinois, they were cleaning ditches on Glenview Rd where it dead ended into the Naval Air Station.

The City of Glenview engineers were out there. It was their project.

They told the operator in the Grade-All, "Can you take a little more off the back cut?"

The operator told them, "You know that gas line is buried back there?"

They said, "We know. Just take a little more off."

So he starts to cut. On the third or fourth cut he cut a nipple off the gas line. They had to evacuate and call Northern Illinois Gas to plug the leak.

You know that cost the City big time since the line had been marked.

That operator digging the trench was shaking his head in disbelief. ;)
