If I remember right, the big bugaboo that was a main driver of our involvement in going there in the first place, was that the Mujahedeen (or whoever) had pretty much eliminated the cultivation of that crap and it was cutting into the Company's black budget profits. I could be wrong.

All we need to remember about 9-11-2001 is the "dancing Israelis" who were picked up in New Jersey when they were filming the planes hitting the Twin Towers.
According to witnesses, they were giving each other "high fives" and making demeaning gestures.
They were held for a month and refused to take lie tests. When they finally agreed to take them, they failed miserably.
After being deported, during an interview with them on Israeli TV they were asked why they were there.
They replied, "We were there to document the events."
How did they know there were going to be events?
One thing more to consider, Neil Bush (yes, those Bushes) was in charge of Security at the Twin Towers during that time.
