By the way, I threw in a buncha comments about Greek this and that, blah, blah, blah in a discussion with Horse.

I hpoe that I was not too rude to Horse whom I admire as a a writer and a poster.

Horse is right in that Attic or Classical Greek, whatever may have succeeded it is a primary historical tongue. Even if you want to study the Gospels and hope to read Corinthian or Hellenistic or Koine Greek, the dialect you learn first is Attic.

I took a semester of Greek many moons ago. I still have my Allen's First year of Greek and I can testify that everyone learns the language of Plato before all else.

In my post about the mistral explosion I included a statement from the marshals that 2 jurors were holding out due to fear of the mob outside.

I took a semester of Greek many moons ago.

When I was in High School we were told we needed to take one year of a foreign language or Comparative Governments. I skipped the language part.

But considering all the troubles we had with the Ricans in Chicago, it might have been a good idea to take Spanish.

We did learn a few phrases, though. ;)

Easy to believe, but how would they know? Marshals aren't presiding over the deliberations.

There's suspicion that the judge may throw the charges out. Judges do have the authority to toss any guilty verdicts rendered by juries if he sees legit cause to do so, and he's sitting on a motion for dismissal with prejudice by the defense. But if he does that, then he and his family are in danger because his name is public.
