Treasury officials held a press call on Monday warning of a very “frustrating” tax season ahead, including delayed refunds—and psst, blame Republicans. Sorry, the biggest culprits here are the pandemic and the surge in federal payments to individuals.

The Internal Revenue Service usually enters tax-filing season with a backlog of a million returns, but Treasury says this year the agency faces “several times” more. The IRS closed last filing season with more than 35 million unprocessed returns—nearly five times as many as in 2019 and three times more than 2020.....

That is an awful lot to say when you consider the federal income tax is not owed by the average citizen living and working in the 50 U.S. states. But the IRS collects it thru threat of lien, levy and wage garnishment.

I had two IRS liens on me in the town I was living in when driving trucks. I called the Recorder's office and they told me send a check for $4 and a SASE and they would send me copies.

I had Lexington Law, credit repair lawyers in Salt Lake City challenge the IRS. They could not prove I owed the tax and were forced to withdraw the liens.

My Credit Karma used to say "2" for Public Filings and now it says "0".

The proof is in the pudding. ;)

Don't try to liberate the American working man from tax slavery. It's his patriotic privilege to work himself to death paying his "fair share" ;)

What total bull shit. All the IRS does is tell Treasury to write a check and they do it.

That would normally be my assumption, but in recent years (pre-plandemic) the "Service" has sent its victims notices crying that because of budget cuts communications will be (in effect) less prompt and focused, and it's worked out that way. Citizens under their scrutiny get a break, those with active cases suffer longer with their lives and money on ice.

Yeah, agents are lazy scum but have to bring in the booty or else.
