Security guards, but not cops, are high risk.

I saw construction worker listed at #7.
I worked highway maintenance and we did construction where we would break out partial or full depth pavement and patch it with hot asphalt.
I did it all from air hammers to finishing the patch with the lute and even as acting heavy when they were short handed. It was a dangerous job working on highways working with traffic mere feet or even inches from death or serious injury.
I know of one guy who was crippled with third and fourth cervical vertebrae crushed. He was hit by a car.
I asked the guy driving the car what happened? He said, "I just looked away for a minute to tune the radio." I said, "When you were driving past a work crew?" Unbelievably stupid to say the least.
I can recall sitting with his Dad in the ER waiting room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital since they had the spinal unit. He told me, "I could have gotten him a job with any state agency he wanted. But he wanted to work on the highways."
The doctors cut his life expectancy way back. He is likely dead by now since this happened in late 80s. :-/
One time we were on the job site and the asphalt truck had just gotten there. The Foreman was standing on left rear corner of asphalt truck. He bent over to look at something under the truck.
Just then a Stake body truck went by with a 4x4 hanging off the tail. if he hadn't bent over it might have taken his head off.
I was standing next to one of the black guys. I said, "James, did you see that?" He said, "Yep." ;)

Some ppl love dangeous work, outdoor work, filthy underground work. We're lucky they do :s Richard Burton's family took great pride in their coal- mining. When he told them he was making millions for acting they were totally bumfuzzled -- just had no idea how the profession could ever be lucrative!

Yes they do.
In late 70s, this girl that lived across the street and was in High School came to my front door one afternoon with her girlfriend.
She told me some guy tried to pick her up when she was walking home alone. I said, "Let's go and we will look for this guy."
We hop in my Blazer and head toward the school. We spot him a few blocks from the school. I make a U-turn and get behind him.
He pulls over on 4-lane near phone near phone company building and waits for traffic to come. He pulls out in front of them. I had to wait for a few cars to go past. But I caught him at gas station next to Post Office four blocks away.
The two guys in gas station didn't make a move. The girls got his tag number. I told them, "Write it down now and give it to Rick, the school cop."
They found out he lived right across the street from the high school. So they put this good looking blond lady cop out front. He come popping out the door and sees here. He walks up to her and says, "Hey baby, let's go upstairs and we can smoke joint."
She gives the signal and they bust him. Then the cops went upstairs and find weed. He is sitting in the shitter when I find out.
So I tell the guys in the hood, "Grab some ball bats and let's go." We pile into my Blazer and head toward the school. I point out the car and go around the block. They jump out and take the windows out of the car all the way around. Then they run and jump back into the truck.
I see this guy again a month or two later doing the same thing, hitting on chicks walking alone on the street.
He pulls over to get out of his car. I have this chick in the truck with me and I say, "Get down!"
I pull up alongside him and holler, "HEY! I SEE YOU ARE STILL UP TO YOUR OLD TRICKS." And I was out of there.
People like that don't change and if he has been in prison, they get rid of molesters in there pretty quickly. ROTFLMAO!

I would imagine so. He might have lost his license for a while since it was such and atrocious accident. But I did not follow what happened to him.
It might have been some big fines and loss of driving privilege for a while. And his insurance likely cancelled his policy after that since they were on the hook for all the medical expenses.
The guy that got hit had 24 hour nursing. That adds up fast. :-/
