When Roger Waters was part of that band, he was the subversive soul of it. Bob Geldoff was Pinky in the movie. He was nothing and frankly is still nothing when it all comes down to it.

Roger Waters was angry mind, David Gilmour the soul, and Syd Barrett, the nervous system that connected the two. When Barrett left, there was no one to connect Gilmour and Waters and that caused the band to split.
