Defunding Police is about as ignorant as you can get. Police are there to clean up after a crime has been committed. Rarely does a cop stop a crime in progress.
Police have no duty to the individual citizen, only to the public at large.
But when I lived in NW suburban Chicago, the Police put a listening post in an empty apartment in the building next to mine. They tapped the phones on maybe 30 Mexicans for dealing dope. Every night at Midnight a cop would show up to pick up reports. They busted a bunch of them. ;)
