The Gates Foundation is spending $40 million on countries in Africa and other economically backward nations to produce new mRNA vaccines in efforts to prevent against diseases like tuberculosis and malaria.
On Monday, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced $40 million in funding to "advance access to mRNA research and vaccine manufacturing technology that will support low-and middle-income countries’ (LMICs) capacity to develop high-quality, lifesaving vaccines at scale," according to an Oct. 9 press release. The $40 million will be spent on boosting access to a low-cost mRNA research and manufacturing platform developed by Belgium-based Quantoom Biosciences.
While $20 million will go to Quantoom, two research institutes in Africa—located in Senegal and South Africa—will get $5 million each. The remaining $10 million will go to vaccine manufacturers from low- and middle-income countries.
Quantoom’s platform can lead to a more than 50 percent drop in mRNA vaccine development costs compared to traditional mRNA technology, the release said.

Today I was accosted by 4 teens who were banging their basketball against my garage door. I asked them not to do that. They continued to do that and when I protested, they decided they want to bring violence into the question. I told them to go get their mom, so that way she might help them sort out how they should talk to adults. They doubled down on violence. I left to go into my house when one of them discharged a firearm while I was on the phone with the police dispatcher.
You see, I am not going to be a victim or a statistic here. So then the police show up, they are nice as pie to the thug lifers who took a shot at me and then treated me as if I were the problem.
When I asked for the simplest thing, simple respect, I was denied it. When my house was shot up 4 other times, I was denied justice. In a place where there is not one virtue in being a law abiding citizen, what fucking recourse Do I have? Move? Or do I become the worst criminal in the area simply to not be a coward or run out of my home?
Because I am going to be honest, I am beyond tired of this shit.
