Buying PMs has been a really crappy investment since about 2008 when I went "all-in" at about $900Au and $9Ag. Best, and luckiest, trade I've ever made in anything, but ten plus years of zero gains really stings. About the time it became clear that the 2020 "election" had been stolen, I bought another block of XOM-Exxon/Mobil stock at $40 (really low pandemic price) where the dividend yield was over 10%. It got as high as $120, it's $103 today with a dividend yield of 3.67% ($3.80/share). JP Morgan Chase pays 0.01% interest on savings/checking, my CU pays 0.80% on a high value "Liquid Gold" savings account.
That was probably my 2nd best trade and riskiest. There was some talk of XOM cutting their dividend, which is a real stock killer. That's how GM went away in 2008, they cancelled their dividends and the stock went to zero. My mother lost everything back then when she wouldn't sell like I told her to.
