According to a new Axios/Harris poll, a majority of Americans – including a stunning 42% of Democrats – support the mass deportation of migrants illegally in the country.

The poll found that 51% – just over half – of the American general public supports mass deportations. While just over two-thirds (68%) of Republicans support this policy, significant minorities of independents (46%) and Democrats (42%) agree with it as well.

Another surprising finding of the poll is that 45% of Latino respondents and 40% of black respondents indicated that they supported mass-deporting illegal migrants.

Broken down by age, the Baby Boomer generation was the most likely to support the deportations – with 60% of the generation’s respondents saying they were in favor.
