Bitcoin is clearly not a currency at the present time as yes, it is too expensive and slow with a global limit of 7 transaction per second. The Lightning Network overlay upgrade, however, is supposed to remedy that. One thing about crypto as a currency that is completely new in the framework of the civilized history of all currencies is that because it is the first software based "currency", it has the ability to mutate via software upgrades. So Bitcoin's shortcomings could be overcome with software upgrades going forward.

Ethereum, the crypto world's #2 crypto by market cap, IS actively evolving to be a usable retail currency by supporting fast, cheap and high volume capacity. If the race between bitcoin and ethereum was purely a matter of which is technically superior, Ethereum would win hands down. But Bitcoin remains king because it has name recognition, and my take with that is the US Dollar's fall from Global Reserve status will not come so easily for the same reason. Everyone knows that everyone else wants dollars so they want it to, and it's a self- perpetuating system of dollar popularity.

The L philosophy has quality elements to it, though there are points where the philosophy fails, such as with its open border (non-border) advocacy and possibly with regard to drug marketing.
