The rector of St Andrews University in Scotland has been removed from the institutions governing body over comments she made about Israels ongoing genocidal attacks on Gaza.
Last November, Stella Maris sent an email to the universitys students in which she shared her personal perspectives and understanding regarding the Israeli-Palestine conflict directly to the students who elected me.
She urged students to seek the most recent information and exercise due diligence before taking any action based on this emails contents.
Included in her email, Maris said: We must continue to recognize and condemn acts that are internationally regarded as humanitarian and war crimes. These include practices such as apartheid, siege, illegal occupation and collective punishment, which have been observed in the treatment of Palestinians.

Archbishop of Canterbury says ending Israeli occupation is a 'legal and moral necessity'
The archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has called for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and urged governments around the world to uphold international law.
His comments on Friday were a response to an advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice two weeks ago, which addressed Israel's presence in occupied Palestine.
The court found that Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian territories was "unlawful" and that its "near-complete separation" of people in the occupied West Bank breached international laws concerning "racial segregation" and "apartheid".
"The [ICJ] makes definitively clear that Israels presence in the occupied Palestinian territories is unlawful and needs to end as rapidly as possible," said Welby.
