Spent some time on the registration & signin pages today and discovered the confirmation for the registration wasn't working.  That's fixed.  New accounts were recording properly but not confirming.  So don't be surprised if we get some 5000 new members over the next 3 days.

The core system is in pretty good shape but I know there's a few issues still outstanding.  Somewhere, I think with mail, the drop down for addressing people isn't quite right.  A few more cosmetic things with registration / signin / forgot PW still warrant attention.  I know Esso asked for a free text entry "To" line when making comments so he can flame people in colorful ways.  I could add that.  Need a hyperlink button on the composition pages and might as well add underline and "strike" buttons too for the hell of it.  Should also have a way to have text quoted properly, and that can easily be added.  There is no administrative side of this site either right now, for deleting articles or managing users.  Nothing at all.  Any and all maintenance has to be done with direct DB access.

Why did I do this???   The other version, though old software, still works and at this point still has a lot more features, albeit mostly unused.  The answer is it is a good learning opportunity for me in getting to know the latest software tools.  My existing skills were very out of date and I have learned a lot.  But the site also pretty much needed it as AI bots are on the rise and starting to overwhelm the site.  The new software limits access better and more limits can be added.

I'll continue to add new features but at a slower rate as I need to allocate my time to more profitable ventures.  But a slower rate of upgrading means less down time.  I do want to do an email blast to all past members in good standing.  Feel free to try to talk me out of it, but it would be good to have a few dozen more likeminded people here.

Continue to let me know of bugs & problems you find, or features you'd like to see, whether from the old version or new versions.  Have a good day/night.
