Seismic activity remains high off the eastern coast of Aomori Prefecture following a magnitude-7.5 earthquake on Monday. Japan's Meteorological Agency is urging people along the northern Pacific coast and elsewhere to stay vigilant against a possible mega quake.
The agency says there is a relatively high possibility that a strong tremor could occur along the Japan Trench or the Chishima Trench off Hokkaido.
An advisory is in place for subsequent earthquakes off the coast of Hokkaido or Sanriku. It covers 182 municipalities in the prefectures of Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki and Chiba.
(I expect a 9.0 megaquake in Japan within the next 3 months. The Cascades 9.0 quake will be after Japan.)
