Florida state leaders are moving to IMPEACH a judge accused of enabling a horrific child murder, after releasing a convicted sex offender back into the community.
Ron DeSantis: “And so, Missy’s Law—House Bill 445—what it does, and this shouldn’t even be an issue… So, you have somebody that’s convicted of a crime—a serious crime. A lot of times, the judge will remand them to custody, then they do a sentencing, and then the judge administers the sentence.
But you don’t release the convict just because you haven’t done sentencing yet.
Now, there are some court systems where they sentence you immediately after conviction. That’s not how it’s done. I know in the military that’s what you do, but that’s not necessarily how it’s done in civil courts throughout the United States.
So, if you have somebody convicted of a serious crime, revoke their bail. Send them to jail, knowing that they’re going to get a sentence of imprisonment—probably very lengthy, anyway.
And I think most judges in Florida get that and have done it—but not all of them.
So, the situation with Missy: she’s got this stepfather—big-time scumbag. He was convicted. First of all, he was abusing Missy. She’s like five years old—doing all that really, really bad stuff that was going on in the home.
But then he gets convicted of trying to meet a 15-year-old for sex.
And so, he gets brought up on charges. He’s out on bail, then he gets convicted. And so this judge—what’s the judge’s name? Judge Tiffany Baker, up in Leon County—he was convicted of attempting against a minor. That’s a felony. That’s a serious offense.
And the prosecutors went to her. They said, “Judge, this is a dangerous individual. You need to revoke the bail. Please revoke the bail.”

Crypto bros and those of you with 'creative' accountants, heads up - the IRS is beefing up its ability to flag accounts for audits. Not only is this the first year that major US-based custodial crypto brokers are reporting gross proceeds to the agency, the IRS is getting aggressive elsewhere. Last year they paid Palantir $1.8 million to identify cases for audits, collections, and potential criminal investigations with a high probability of success. The contract was the latest in over $200 million the IRS has paid Palantir since 2014.
According to documents obtained by WIRED, the new tool - called the Selection and Analytic Platform (SNAP) - is designed to help IRS staff analyze unstructured data from the agency's existing internal databases. The goal is to more efficiently identify "high-value" targets amid the IRS's fragmented legacy systems, which include over 100 business systems and 700 case-selection methods built up over decades.
