For most people, the price of gasoline is the most obvious consequence of the war in the Middle East. As I write this article, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States is $4.56. Of course in some parts of the country consumers are paying much more than that.
Can you imagine what would happen if food prices were to rise another 50 percent from current levels?
Over the past year, many of the most common items that Americans purchase at the grocery store have already become much more expensive…
When compared to the same time last year, fruits and vegetables have seen some of the biggest price hikes. Tomatoes are 40% more expensive now than they were this time last year. Bad growing weather, tariffs, and rising fuel prices have all contributed to the huge change in tomato prices, reports the New York Times.
Coffee, another imported product, is 19% more expensive than it was last spring.
You’re also likely seeing inflated prices at the butcher counter. Meat is up 9% overall, but beef has grown even more expensive. Ground beef is about 15% pricier, beef roasts are 18% more, and steak is up 16%.
We can blame the war with Iran for the recent price hikes that we have been experiencing, because the war has made diesel much more expensive.
In addition, fertilizer prices have gone absolutely haywire, and those costs will be passed along to us once harvest season arrives.
Scientists have warned that an imminent ‘super El Niño’ is coming this summer.
Now, forecasts suggest water temperatures could potentially exceed 3°C (5.4°F) above average later this year – making the upcoming super El Niño very powerful.
Worldwide food production was already going to be way down this year due to the global fertilizer crisis.

All charges against Ebony Parker, the former elementary school assistant principal accused of ignoring repeated warnings that a 6-year-old student had a gun hours before the child eventually shot and seriously wounded his teacher, were dismissed Thursday.
The ruling from Circuit Judge Rebecca Robinson, in Newport News, Virginia, came on the fourth day of Parker’s trial in response to a motion filed by the defense team for the former Richneck Elementary School administrator. She was facing eight counts of felony child neglect for her alleged actions around the shooting, but Robinson said Thursday that the court “is of the legal opinion that this is not a crime.”
Parker was charged in the January 2023 shooting in Newport News that left teacher Abby Zwerner wounded. Prosecutors had said the charges were for each of the bullets in the gun brought into Zwerner’s classroom. Each count could have carried a maximum penalty of five years in prison upon conviction.
Special prosecutor Josh Jenkins did not immediately return an email and a telephone message left at his office on Thursday. During opening statements earlier this week, Jenkins had sought to paint a picture of Parker as dismissive when employees at the school approached with concerns that a gun may have been inside the 6-year-old’s backpack.
Defense attorney Curtis Rogers told the judge in making his motion that Parker’s decision on the day of the shooting “wasn’t an act of neglect.”
“Her actions in no way indicated that she believed there was a firearm in the possession” of the child, Rogers said.

But it was completely fake news, and it was soon exposed as completely fake news.
The Iranians have not moved from their core negotiating positions and they aren’t going to move.
At this point, the Iranians are telling us that negotiations are in a “permanent deadlock” and that they have “no desire to even continue negotiations”…
To the Iranians, accepting the terms that Trump is offering would be the equivalent of surrendering, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is telling us that “martyrdom” would be preferable to that…
The Iranians do not believe that a peace deal will actually happen.
Instead, they are feverishly preparing for the next chapter of the war…

The former missile has a payload of 1,000 Kg which is twice that of the latter though the Iranians could reduce its

without a large loss of life. Sinking an aircraft carrier would result in a nuclear strike on Iran. Smaller might be better
to avoid a nuclear escalation.)

Iranian hackers said today that they have detected “preparations for the renewed outbreak of military conflict in the coming days” and would respond to U.S. and Israeli actions with “devastating” widespread attacks targeting energy and IT infrastructure.
Handala, a hacking group linked to the Iranian government, claimed credit for a massive wiper attack on a U.S. medical technology company at the start of the Iran war and, later, the breach of the FBI director’s personal email. Yet the group declared at the time a ceasefire began in early April that although it would not recognize a cessation in hostilities it had still “postponed overt confrontation” with the United States per “highest leadership” orders.
Earlier this month, Handala claimed in a Telegram post that strikes on Fujairah oil facilities were part of a coordinated cyber-physical offensive with the IRGC targeting the United Arab Emirates port city — “a fully coordinated operation” that began with their breach of port systems and was followed by kinetic attacks “minutes later.”
